Kidding, right?

No, not at all. I have had HORRIBLE experiences with them, as have many others:

http://www.resellerratings.com/store/ZipZoomFly

They're down to a 6.65 score, and it's been continually dropping, as wlel as their lifetime one.

When I check that card at Newegg it says: Out of Stock (ETA:11/03/2007)

Only card in stock @ Newegg is the $300 Asus card, and it's not even OC! :frown:

It's 6 hours later now, these are selling like hotcakes... they were gone within 20 minutes ;).

I have spent well over $300K with ZZF in past few years. There have been a couple of problems here and there, but that happens. I still use them as a vendor.

I just offloaded my 8800 GTS 640mb on eBay so now I am video cardless. I think I'll take up reading again while I wait :)

I had spent well over $20k with them as a vendor and they bit me BADLY multiple times. I stopped using them... looks like the odds are against you on average, too.

Well, I pestered Fry's again. They canceled my order due to credit card issues again (wtf is up with Bank of America lately?) and I reordered and all looks fine this time around. 8800GT EVGA vanilla (SC version probably is just upclocked in the factory anyways, it's probably easy to reach 700 core like the SSC version on stock cooler). The rep said that they'd get a shipment on Saturday and ship Monday. I suppose that's the price to pay for the NCIX order fuckup and since this card is so new.

Interesting thing is that I asked him why they pulled the EVGA deal from Fry's at $220. He said it was because the card was backordered.

I call bullshit at this, since Fry's had the 8800 EVGA and BFG versions for $229 and $239 respectively for a good twelve-eighteen hours before they pulled it. They have the PNY version for $299 right now, I believe. Fry's most likely pulled it so they can get their piece of the pie in thise ridiculous 8800GT price gouging fiasco.

For anyone that is looking to order: wait, prices should go down (hopefully) and don't fall for the lowball price gouging tactics that's going on in the Egg, ZZF, and other vendors like Fry's. Don't buy from FleaBay, either.

These couple of experiences stand out, but there were other issues such as rude salespeople and VERY rude customer service, as well as many late shipments/out-of-stock when they claimed in-stock/etc. problems.

Once I had a defective motherboard that was DOA... sent it in, they refunded it instead of giving a replacement, and charged me a 15% restock fee for their error, refusing to take it off. I eventually got them to remove the bogus charge.

Another time, I had a video card come in with a perfect-condition outer shiping box, but the box inside was smashed to all heck. The card didn't work, but when I sent it back they would not replace it, saying my only option was to re-order a new one and accept a 15% restock for the working item, or they would send it back. They would not back down off this. To prove that the card supposedly worked, they sent me a 3dmark link of a card of the same model and said it was that one (lol).

On a $500 video card for my personal rig, that was the last straw. I charged back the incorrect restock fee, had them refund me the rest, and never looked back. I have done over $50k with newegg for myself/business over the course of the last six years, alongside the same period I used ZipZoomFly, and never once have I had any issue whatsoever that was not resolved rapidly and to my satisfaction or better. I have never had a physically damaged item come from them. I have never had a rude CSR. They have *real-time* stock, whereas ZZF's is just hand-adjusted. I have never been unhappy with my service from them.

Where are you seeing any 8800GT at Fry's website? All I see is one 8800GTS. It's been like that since I started checking yesterday, as far as I can tell.

I would love to use NewEgg, but I have to pay tax there (they have two warehouses in TN). I need to look into getting tax-expempt.

I have not had many problems with ZZF. I used to hate the fact that they shipped out 2-3 days after my order, but lately they have been shipping same or next day. I am really starting to like Clubit, and have been buying quite a bit from Fry's as well.

If you call frys and ask NONE of their employees ever heard of the GT... they will correct you telling you it is called a GTS.. when you explain they will say they don't have it.. THEY ARE WRONG!

Their shelves are loaded with GTs, just waiting to be plucked and taken home by a lucky user...

Newegg is now gouging 299$ for an asus STOCK GT... I saw a BFG GT (i think it was OCed, I don't remember) for 274$ on fry's shelves...

Whoah.. I just ordered Club 3D 8800 GT 512MB for price of 210? ($300), which is considered ULTRA LOW price in Finland because 8800 GTS 320MB cards have had (and still have) $380 price tag (640MB $470).
Usually these prices are 20-40? higher in Finland compared to Germany..but now they are actually cheaper.

Got my two Gigabyte cards in. Nice-looking cards. These are currently running in Dell Precision 390's along with a Q6600 and 4GB ram (XP Pro showing 3.5GB).

yes i know what he is talking about... 32 bit windows can only allocate 4GB of memory for the OS... this includes ALL memory... even that on your video card... which is typically why people see figures like 3.5 GB etc... with 1GB allocated to video mem i'd expect to actually see a figure closer to 3GB of system memory...

Oh, no. Only one card is installed in each system, these are not SLI capable systems (975X chipset).

BUT, when I have put 768MB GTX's in Precision 390's, the latest BIOS gets me 3.5GB when 4GB are installed.

You're probably not running a 64-bit OS, which explains why you see less RAM than you have.

Doesn't really matter anyways, 2GB is fine for today.

I love newegg. Even though their prices are a little inflated their service is still great. I got caught up in the mwave out of stock crap so I cancelled that order and just searched around for a while. I ran across the evga 8800gt ko on newegg so I immediately put in an order but my shipping address was different than my billing address so I had to sort that out which took a whole day. I checked back on to see if they still had the video card in stock but it wasn't, at this point I thought I missed out again. Then suddenly this morning newegg sends an email saying that the address change was fine and that they shipped out the card and it should be here tomorrow.
