I use a local credit union that has partnerships with other credit unions across the nation, so I can do my "banking" online or in any city.

For members, not for profit 🙂

A not-for-profit bank?!

Western Union doesn't charge a monthly fee.

Also, what's with posting this stuff on the intertubes? At least make the identity thieves work for it a bit.

Neither of my accounts have service charges. There are terms however to avoid a fee at Chase (of course) like having to make 6 debit purchases a month, otherwise its $6.

And Western Unions check cashing fees are steep by comparison. But to each his own I say. 🙂

ps. As mentioned in the OP, I used to work for a bank and privacy laws were drilled into our heads. Stealing bank accounts from our screen names is rather far fetched.

Local-ish bank, they have branches all over CO and now some in CA.
I opened my first savings account there with $5.

I'm going to have to get a credit union account too, because all of the colleges have credit union atm's.

A lot of big banks missing on this list, so I chose other. I bank with HSBC for checking and savings and Fidelity and Vanguard for brokerage.

Oh and 1st Niagara too which is local.

No Wachovia or Chase / WaMu? OIC "JP Morgan." Odd way to put it which resulted in me not giving it a check before submitting my other banks.

Wells Fargo PMA and local credit union. Don't recommend Wells till you get 25k and get the PMA package and link it to your WellsTrade then it's a great deal.
