I met my girlfriend during sophomore year of college because we were on the same dorm wing. We were really friends for a little over a year and then we developed feelings for each other and one day just realized that we felt the same way about each other. I know that the whole friend to bf/gf thing is risky, but it has been so incredibly rewarding for me. Hopefully I'll be saying the same things as rh71 in a few years. :)

I met my girlfriend at a track meet. One of my female friends was there to watch me and another guy run and to cheer us on, and she brought a friend, who gave me a good luck hug and immediately turned a lovely shade of red. We talked for a few hours on AIM that night, and as they say, the rest is history.

I met my girlfriend at school in a beginning computer class. She was chewing gum and looked rebellious. I thought she was in the class by mistake. Later that week we had a fire drill, and I followed her down the stairs admiring her hair. When we got outside, everyone was standing around bored, so I struck up a conversation. One thing led to another...and here we are, years later, living together.

*Moral to the story*-Don't be afraid to make the first move!

I just hung out with some friends and they introduced me to this chick and she was cute and nice and all but there were no sparks between us.

So I'm just curious... how/where did you guys meet your significant others (past or present) and, also, how did you court/pursue/woo them?

Obviously not everyone has a GF, and I'm one of them. It's so hard to find a woman who will suit you...

I met mine at a cross-country team party in Sept. 2001. The air was warm, the people were cool, and we just magically clicked. After a few weeks, I asked her to Homecoming and everything just kind of clicked from there.

Awesome. My advice is to go somewhere that you LIKE being...not somewhere just to meet chicks. That way, you'll at least have something in common from the start.

She was a waitress at a restaurant my brother and his wife went to all the time. I had recently moved to the same city as my brother, and he took me out to eat there. She said when she saw me walk in the door, she told her friends that I would be hers.

And I am!!!

Many women hang out at LAN Parties and dark areas lit by moniters and glowing LED indicator lights.

Met mine at Cross Country. Weird story:

I started off-season training before she did so I never saw here there. Then one day I pulled my hamstring and was pretty much out for the majority of the season but I still showed up every day for practice to do some stretching and the like. My first day at actual practice I was talking to my coach and she came up to us and introduced herself to me. Turns out she also had knee problems. The first week or so we just talked a little bit (as I later found out she thought I was just being annoying and had no clue I was interested) and I only saw her several times in the hall at high school (she's younger than me so we didn't have any classes together).

Then I asked if she'd want to eat lunch with me (I'd found this sweet spot outdoors at school where no one ever goes) and we just sat there and talked. That was the same day I kissed her. It went from there.

The best part is that we never formally got together (I never asked her out or asked her on a date). It just kinda happened. Just like everything else between us. And we never had any fights either. She's great.

Heh, yeah she accepted. We were on a cruise ship - on the deck when I proposed. If she would've said no... the water was like... right there. ;) The rock is 1.06ct round tiffany setting with a platinum band. Not huge or anything, and neither is my wallet. My good friend just got proposed to just this afternoon too. These are signs that I'm getting old. ;)

:) I've got one of the best stories around.

I was on a class field trip. it sucked. I was terribly bored. I posted a thread on AT about it, way back in November, although I doubt anyone remembers. Anyways, I get this message on my cell phone, from an unknown number. It simply says "hey". I'm bored, so I say "hey whos this" back. A little later they tell me they messaged the wrong person earlier. I'm bored, and desparate for something to take my mind off of the civil war, so I strike up a conversation, like about who the person is and all. Turns out, its a girl, my age(well, 11 months younger), who goes to a neighboring high school. Intriguing. I tell her I work at Circuit City, and lo and behold, 2 days later she shows up there. We chat, we decide to hang out a little....few weeks later, I've got my first girlfriend :) Been together a little over 8 months now. I'm the happiest I've ever been. And it all come from her accidentally typing xxx-xxx-4421 instead of xxx-xxx-4424 on her phone. Wow. :D

Cool story indeed. But have you ever dialed x4424 to see who, if anyone, answers? :)
