Damn you're helpless. Go around construction sites, and scavenge wood. Then all you have to buy is a screwdriver, some fasteners, and any bits of material you couldn't find. You should be able to do something for under $10, and you'll have a screwdriver for the next time you need to do something.

Edit:
Shit, I forgot the saw. That'll raise the projects costs, but you can still do it for $10-$30 depending on where, and what kind of saw you get,

I don't exactly have a shop to work in... I live in a small studio apartment. :\

I just want something that is almost exactly like what I have now. It's easier and will work better for me.

In all my days of perusing this forum, I don't think any drunk thread I've read has come even close to the ambiguity and confusion of the original post. The text alone would hurt the average person's brain. Add in the picture with the numbered items, then try to match up the text with the items and even a Rhodes Scholar's head would explode. Here's to the biggest WTF? of 2012 so far.

I don't know what it should be called either. It is pretty great but I need another that is very similar to it if I ever want to cook bacon on a pan that is on a burner. I don't have a lot of money to spend, so I'll have to get something off of craigslist.

You don't need a shop. Do it in the kitchen, and sweep up the sawdust. I guess you'll have to add $5 for a broom. Maybe a neighbor will lend you one :^D

Seriously, this shit isn't rocket science. The milk crate idea below is perfectly feasible. You can also go heavy duty by using cinder blocks. There's an infinite number of ways you can make a hot plate holder appear in your kitchen, and a large portion of them are free, or almost free. Keep your eyes open, and you'll get something.

Just keep checking the dumpster where you found that one. There's bound to be someone else with enough sense to throw one away.

It's not a regular chest of drawers though. It's all metal except the top which is probably linoleum or something like that.

It looks more like marble or granite. Or some substitute. Looks much to thick to be linoleum.

Could just be a shitty pic and i cant tell that easily.

I think it's just a piece of wood or metal that has linoleum on the top. That whole thing is not granite or marble. I know that. I can feel it.

Do you want the full 18megapixel picture? I'm sorry you can't tell from that photo that the thing is fucking metal. It's not rocket science to realize that most wooden chest of drawers don't look like that.

I think what you're looking for is one of these?
http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/80035920/
Although, that's an overpriced piece of Ikea junk for that price..
Here's one for $229, looks a lot nicer:
http://www.kaboodle.com/reviews/kitchen-cart-with-granite-insert

If you google for kitchen cart big lots, you can see the carts they had on black friday for about $150 (iirc.)

One other thing - on the right... that isn't a granite counter top, is it?! Those floors, granite counter top... does not compute.

Wow. What in the fuck. I thought I've seen some retarded threads on here, but holy shit.

Hey guys, I'm retarded and have a dresser in my kitchen. The problem is I don't know that it is called a dresser and have been unable to find one in the kitchen isle at the store. I looked at everything from pots and pans to the knives and spoons but can't seem to find this crazy storage contraption that is in my kitchen. Can anyone help?

Edit. Mop your damn floor. U nasty!

Who gives a shit what it's made of, just pick-up a free dresser or kitchen work table off of craigslist. Same damn thing, moron.

Good fuckety fuck.

It's a fucking chest of drawers, you moron.

How the hell do you survive in the day to day world? Do you just rely on the waitresses to tell you not to eat the cutlery and the apartment manager to tell you to stop licking the lead-based paint off the walls?

I don't see how that top is even made for cooking on... Oh wait, it isn't. >.>

Dear Anandtech,

I want to buy another piece of furniture like this one to use in my kitchen! I plan to set the burners on top of it, so the surface needs to be heat-resistant, hopefully to the point where I can set a hot pan directly on it. I don't have a lot of money to spend, so I'll have to get something off of craigslist.

What would you call a piece of furniture like this that would be functional in the kitchen?

#5 in this picture.
Not

Obscure OP does not make it clear that the surface of your current dresser is anything special, or how cooking relates to your question at all. The fact that everyone else posted wood dressers as well is evidence that your initial question didn't include all the specifications sufficiently.

We still cannot tell what the top of your current dresser is made of so I don't think we can help you search to find a comparable one til you fix that. I'd recommend looking for something with a marble top, since marble is a very good cooking surface, but that will probably not be cheap or easy to find.
