I have a friend with an old computer, he just wants to add more memory.

I cant find the computer on PNY or Kingston memory configurators.

Its a compaq pentium pro / 200 mhz

1.4/2.0/32mb/cd/vga = floppy/hd gig/ram/rom/video i guess

also number: 354in6
and: 6638bbh3p631

It also has a scsi hd, its a desktop, not tower, and looks like it has 8 memory slots. (2 are used up with what I believe are 16 meg sticks, and theres a sticker on it I can see that says edo)

Computer is running win95 still. He only uses it for dial up internet and thats really all, no games or anything.

ANy idea where I can find info on this computer, and what exact memory pin configuration it has.

Is it really worth filling up the slots to 128 (I assume max) ram, would that help at all. Thanks

I would try the for sale\trade forum. I think someone would probably sell you a bag of simms for cheap.

Can you post the numbers on the memory chips and how many chips are on each module? That way we can at least know what type works.

Remember that in most cases, SIMMS must be installed in pairs due to the parallel architecture. If you're looking for memory that old, I would probably suggest getting it second-hand because brand new SIMMs are pricey for the amount of memory you get.

ah man, you're not lucky, I sawed all my EDO ram in half, they make for great keychains, but u wouldnt heve been much with it anyways, I had 16 banks of 4 meg. lotsa space for memory, paper wouldave been more effective ;)

My local Staples has one EDO module on clearance, but I think they need to be installed in pairs... Check on eBay and pricewatch.com as well in the For Sale/Trade forums here and elsewhere. ResellerRatings/Techimo also has a pretty active FS/T forum.
