I need a 55 gallon drum so i can get this done one night and have a little fun at it. where can one get a 55 gallon drum?

buy a shredder instead. if you're going to burn it in a 55 gallon drum, you're going to have to stand over the fire and toss in papers one stack at a time anyway... might as well shred them one by one and check out each paper one last time. you never know what u might find...

try contacting some waste management companies, or companies that treat hazardous waste. 55 gallon drums are often used to store such things. my company (an environmental consulting company) has several, but i dont know where we get them from.

Uhh.. I don't know if its such a good idea to burn stuff in a drum they used for hazerdous waste.

paper shredder. invite the neighbors kids over and let em have at it.

lol. Good observation. Kids love paper shredders. Heck, my cat loves shredders too. He thinks it's a can opener.
Come to think of it. I'm fascinated by paper shredders too. Like a redneck with a bugzapper.

Don't you have a municipal recycling collection service?

I'd just put one bin of papers out every two weeks until the papers are all gone...

I have gone through them twice and i do have a stack of papers im keeping for nostalgia. papers like his old arrest reports from when he was a deputy sheriff in Harris county Texas. all his hand written monthly expense reports of every single bill he had from month to month dating back to the 50's. but the rest is junk and i swear he had OCD when it came to paperwork. he was very metilicouls on keeping EVERTHING. now i inherided it and im tired of it taking up space in my two sheds. i cant even get in them without removing half a dozen boxes to get to my tools then i have to put them all back. Hell i think i even found his original SS card with instructions from the 30's. but this stuff is getting burned, i consider it part of closure too.
