That's about right. You will most likely have more problems finding a job that is close enough than you will finding one which accepts worker's permits. Start googling places which fit in this category followed by your zip code. Make phone calls to the ones in biking distance and find out if they hire 15 year olds with a worker's permit. Start having him fill out those applications.

+1 - lied to Sonny's BBQ and started bussing\dishes at 14, told them the truth when I got my permit at 15. 6.00\hr is good money.

How did you lie to them? I thought it was a requirement for every employer to submit a copy of a valid ID with the employee's age on it unless you doing an under the table job? If that is not the case then the OP may have more options if he is ok with his son doing things the dishonest way.
