He can work at any under-the-table jobs. It'll teach him a LOT about working in a workplace, responsibility, dealing with other employees, etc.

I was 15, I was a busboy making $6/hr back in 1996 (which was lot + more than minimum wage back then).

Paper boy, mow lawns-can make huge money doing that, I did, shooting range, golf course, odd jobs doing yard clean up, or debris removal for people in town within bike riding distance.

If he's a hard worker, he could try to get a job with a landscaping company and make good money. Their busy season is getting ready to start.

That's about right. You will most likely have more problems finding a job that is close enough than you will finding one which accepts worker's permits. Start googling places which fit in this category followed by your zip code. Make phone calls to the ones in biking distance and find out if they hire 15 year olds with a worker's permit. Start having him fill out those applications.

My nephew worked at one when he was 15. If you have a workers permit you can work younger than 16, there are just different rules concerning how many hours per week, how late you can work, etc. (IIRC)

In order to get a workers permit he first has to find a job, get them to sign some papers and turn it to his school. THANKS FOR ALL THE RESPONSES.

How did you lie to them? I thought it was a requirement for every employer to submit a copy of a valid ID with the employee's age on it unless you doing an under the table job? If that is not the case then the OP may have more options if he is ok with his son doing things the dishonest way.

Yeah I did the same thing when washing dishes at a local restaurant. I knew I wasn't supposed to be working after 9pm but I figured they had my ID so it was their problem.

Man I wish $5.50 was still a decent wage.

Under the table manual labor FTW... make more money, have more fun, get more exercise.

Working at retail or fast food *SUCKS*.

nth vote for grocery store.

Nothing like learning the true evils of customer service to motivate someone to get a better job

Have him volunteer at a local hospital. Pay him $6/hr out of your own pocket.
