@KillerG: Well I have heard or read about legal threats in various threads around the web and I don't recall ever seeing anything coming of it. Let us know how it goes but if you are getting lawyers involved I would suggest you choose your words carefully if you say anything at all. Does anyone have any idea how long these things take? I know up here in Canada it can take a very long time. I would say that we have all been burned at some point for buying the latest and greatest and this is just one example of the risks we take as early adopters. Early adopters also need to realize that extra time is required, along with the extra dollars. Gigabyte did indeed mess up by not listening to you guys sooner and you have every right to be upset.

I would take Grim's advice using the info he provided to try to get a refund first if the replacement/mod options are no good for you. Might be quicker than a class action. However, if you are trying to make a point with the lawsuit then good luck to you.

I had previously seen the article that you referenced. That author of that article from the UK seemed to be a bit bent toward a certain finding in that brief piece. I also noticed that he didn't provide ANY real specifics about the board settings and various standard testing sequences and procedures. The board he was testing was two BIOS revisions older than what is currently available, and there were no specifics about what range of processors they used either (Dual, Quad, etc). So, on balance, inasmuch as that single "report" is not being echoed by other assessments from reputable electronic media sources, or by my own experience with the X48 board, I tend not to give it much credence. However, other readers may see it differently. In any event, thanks for the reference link, and welcome aboard this Thread.

Best regards to everyone. Have a nice evening. TheBeagle :D

Good Morning all!
Mr. Hxx
welcome to the forum!
Mr. Beagle,
Was looking at some GPU's for this board, I've always used Nvidia so I need some suggestions on a cross fire set up.
If you could (may be in the other thread) post up some basics for me, then let me know what the top end cards are. Things like I can use 2 3870's , or 1 3870 and 1 2900XT.
Very confusing stuff!
was gonna get the 9800's but there just re-badged 8800GTS second gen cards with Little higher clockings on them.
Nvidia is not looking to good lately here, got a 780 board laying here in the wrapper still, I tried to RMA it for a refund and guess what. New egg popped up the no refunds on this board (oh boy). I wanted to send it back for the 750 FTW board from EVGA. As it is a EVGA design (or so they say it is).
Regards all!

This board was surely believed to be the greatest but many of the guys here did not think of themselves as early adapters and that's because Gigabyte's mobo was the last 680 to hit the market and it did so months after the competition. This was one of the reasons why I had no problem spending some extra $$$ on this board and I know that the same goes for some of the others here.

Good Morning Mr. Jaggerman & Everyone.

The choice of GPU on a X48 board depends on what your primary use will be. If you are a rabid gamer, then Crossfire would be a serious consideration. The new dual GPU boards are real screamers, and two of those dual GPU boards in a Crossfire array would be quite fierce. But that's also going to cost some significant $ to accomplish.

On the other hand, if you occasionally engaging in gaming, then a single video card with dual GPUs is the way to go. I still like nVidia GPUs (they seem to do better with those than trying to be compatible with Intel CPUs when making mainboard chipsets), so either an x2 ATI or 2x nVidia video card would be just fine. Recently, ATI seems to have done a much better job on their drivers (monthly updates) than nVidia has been doing.

If you go the Dual Crossfire card route (Quad GPUs) then you're going to need AT LEAST a 1000 watt PSU, probably a 1200 watt would be safer - very good quality PSU to be sure. Best of luck with the new board.

Best regards to everyone. Have a nice day. TheBeagle :D

Thanks MR. Beagle!
I'm leaning toward the Quad cross fire, then I could get some screaming mem, new PSU and a nice 45 nm. As I love gaming and got a nice 42' LCD to try it out on.
We shall see what my finances dictate to me.......
Best regards!

I actually received a call from Leo today, didn't have an opportunity to chat with him, but he sounds like a calm individual so that will be nice.

SLI isn't in my future, but an Extreme Quad is, so I think the X48 will be ok for me.

Man two more weeks to wait, this is killing me. Also not gonna be purchasing much for the new board, as bills just don't stop coming in here. Maybe a nice cpu for it, again money is tuff.
best regards all!

Well, they have yet to setup a trade in for me. I have spoken with Chuck (Charles?) from Gigabyte, and he asked me to send in all my information about my board and my invoice. I sent that on Friday of last week, but have not even received a reply letting me know they got it. I left a voice-mail with Chuck, but he was out yesterday. I will try contacting Leo later today if I do not hear from Chuck.

Good after noon Mr. Kell and everybody!

Mr. Kell I'd resend the e-mail to him (Mr. Chuck@gigabtye) see if that produces anything. As I know they should be pretty busy, also try Mr. Colin if you can.
They seem to be keeping an eye on the threads..................... Once it's posted here seems I get a reply e-mail just after.
Regards!:thumbsup::)

It?s nice to hear that you guys are almost done with this and it?s also very nice to hear that GB has indeed given our issue priority. It won?t be long before the ?migration? from the ?Where are the GA-N680SLI-DQ6? thread to the ?Where are the GA-X48-DQ6? thread begins. In fact since Mr dghillier has already received his new board the migration has already started.

It seems that TheBeagle is stuck with us for good. :D

Great news to see that the replacements are filtering back to us now. I will be sending my board back to them tomorrow insured and registered. Hopefully they can get it back to me before next weekend.

Cheers to Chuck, Leo and Colin.

Good Morning all!
Mr. Curr,
Just to let you know, when I shipped mine back it took nearly two weeks to get it there. Just don't want you to get let down by the shipping speeds is all, keep us informed!
Best Regards :beer::)

Hi jaggerwild,

I'm actually going to send it back on my own dime, with the USPS priority mail. I have a lot more faith in them than I do in UPS/FedEx (my brother is a UPS package handler at the hub in my area) and for anything fragile / delicate I use USPS. Sending it out tomorrow at lunch it's pretty much assured to arrive Monday at Gb.

Then we'll see how long it takes for them to "inspect" and send me a new one. I use my computer for work also, so this way nets the least amount of downtime.

Board shipped off as of 11:30AM EST Fri the 25th of April. Should be in Chuck's hands no later than Tuesday in Cali.

With a fast turn around I can hopefully have my "new" mobo back next Friday, stuck on the wifes laptop until then!

Anyone get any word back on whether or not they are going to get a 790 board instead of the x48? I saw a while ago that people asked but never saw what the response was.

Good Day!
