Where are Anandtech's Jaguar articles?

NOBODY has written solid articles about Jaguar factually, other than perhaps mentioning it as the sucessor to Bobcat and speculating based on AMD slides. There isn't really enough other than the PS4 (which has been covered) to say more.

I'd rather they focus their energy on doing a thorough launch review, including incorporating material that's already available.

Where are Anandtech's Jaguar articles?

Doesn't anyone find it peculiar that Anandtech hasn't written any article on Jaguar?

Is there some reason you feel compelled to ask the CPU forum member's when surely they are not going to know the answer?

Why not ask Anand? (he responds frequently to just about any tweet or email)

Or why not ask AMD?

It's really annoying when almost all the tech sites ignore AMD. Richland is arguably the biggest news of the week and none of the websites have bothered doing reviews. The only review I've seen is on a chinese website where he retrofits a richland cpu onto a trinity msi laptop. I mean since when has a new usb stick or SSD become more important than a cpu release. It seems that along with the OEMs intel has the tech sites and everyone else in their pockets these days.
I was going to rant more about intel fanboyism and how intel cpu performance isn't that much better and that intel cpus are almost always poor value for money. but that is left for another post.

AMD's response:

Hi Phil,

Thanks for your email and interest in AMD! You can expect to see reviews of products based on the 2013 AMD Elite A-Series APUs begin to appear as products hit shelves in the coming months.

Best,
Sarah

So, no, there isn't any conspiracy by Intel or its fanboys to keep Richland reviews off the radar. They are coming but the products are still ramping up at the moment.

Which does make sense considering the desktop SKUs are delayed until summertime after all.

They can, and will, respond provided you can conduct yourself with a modicum of civility in making your inquiries.

It is because he is part of the rampant anti-AMD conspiracy that includes big business, consumers, the government and the little green men in that spaceship I saw last night.

Oh, wait, maybe it is because Anand actually waits until the chip is available so that he can perform objective performance tests instead of engaging in unsupported speculation???

The most info about Jaguar we have are AMD's presentations, and a preliminary optimization guide (link). Note that the optimization guide was only just posted.

A good deal is either held under NDAs, or not yet known outside of AMD.

It's not Anandtech, as IDC showed AMD has not put out preview tendrils yet. My gut feeling is they are waiting much closer to actual product as fallout from the Llano -> Trinity transition where OEMs felt there was too steep of a drop off in Llano sales caused by pre-launch Trinity showcasing. Given the node change alone an official or semi-official preview of Jaguar would dry up current E series sales significantly.

I thought you don't read Anandtech because Anand is an Intel shill. Why would you care what he has to say about jaguar??

Edit: I see you just won a 2 month vacation from posting here. Guess I won't see an answer.

Is Jaguar even out yet? Perhaps the NDA hasn't expired.
The Jaguar architecture is already launched, lots of slide available, but Kabini is not released, yet.

Well .. sort of, its embedded version, the G-Series was launched some days ago, but there are also no benches, yet.

Anand said during the PS4 analysis article he hadn't done much digging on it because it didn't seem terribly interesting to AT's audience. He said he was going to start getting more information on it, though.

But yeah, give it time. The G-Series SoCs were just announced yesterday.

AT covers Atoms extensively so I see no reason why they wouldn't cover Jaguar the same way?
Anyway, the products are not yet widely available so this is the (main) reason why it hasn't happened until now. My 2 cents.

http://semiaccurate.com/2013/04/24/amd-launches-hd7990-without-any-actual-information/

AMD is launching the dual GPU HD7990 today, and we would love to tell you all about it but AMD didn’t actually tell us. Sure we were at the briefing but none of the promised information was given, nor were any real specs.
If only this were a joke we would be laughing with you, but it isn’t actually funny after three or four times around. We were told that we would get a card but only after launch so no point in doing a review. We were promised pricing but it never came. We were told a launch date and hours before launch when we inquired if the materials we were supposed to get come before launch, we were told it was delayed a week or so. If we hadn’t asked, we doubt we would have gotten that much.

This isn’t to say that AMD PR is not doing their jobs, they are. You might recall that in the layoffs of November 2011 almost everyone in PR was let go. This woeful under-staffing is still woeful, only matched by their lack of resources. The people doing the job simply can’t do what they are tasked with, and everything is falling through the cracks. AMD desperately needs to staff the department enough to do the job or just not bother, the current state of affairs is just painful. The task in front of the department now is clearly impossible and it is obvious to any onlooker.

(....)

So overall no specs, no confirmation that it actually does work, and more questions than answers. If this sounds like a criticism of the AMD graphics PR teams, both internal and external, it is the exact opposite. Instead it is a criticism of AMD management not giving them the resources needed to do anything close to the things they are tasked with. Until that changes, don’t look for coverage of the company to be worth a damn, we have already turned down a few briefings because they won’t result in a story worth reading.

(...)

What the bold part or that whole text have to do with my post? Kabini/Temash is not widely available yet so AT cannot get the parts to test. This has nothing to do with understaffed AMD's marketing department.

AT's coverage of Cedar Trail was also a lot lower than what it did with something like Ivy Bridge. There were two product reviews (http://www.anandtech.com/show/5849/...ss-system-review-cedar-trail-or-cedar-trial/2 and http://www.anandtech.com/show/5701/quick-look-asus-1025c-and-cedar-trail) but the benchmarking was pretty limited. And this didn't happen until a few months after products first appeared.

Hopefully Jaguar gets more than this.

Because the article Piedsquared wants needs to be PR staged, and AMD PR isn't in great shape as of lately.

Its just the reality today:

AMD APUs get very little media coverage. Mobile Trinity saw maybe 2 reviews which came out a long time after the APUs hit the market.
Ivy Bridge saw previews and reviews the minute it came out.

Who knows wether its AMD that have a bad relationship with media or that they care too little about marketing. Could be other reasons too, its a huge difference between coverage of Intel and AMD CPUs. Thats for sure

What info about Kabini/Temash is available but which Anandtech is not covering? If AMD doesn't talk about it, Anadtech has nothing to write about.

Blame AMD for that.

shit, Intel's coverage of Cedar Trail paled in comparison to Anandtech's coverage of Cedar Trail.

From the support Intel threw behind it, you'd think it's mother was raped by a wounded, criminal, immigrant terrorist

There's no need to stigmatize the victims of rape, nor their offspring.

Characterzing both parties as something to be shunned is simply adding insult to injury.

I'm going to have to eat my words. BSN just did an excellent write up on embedded kabini.

http://www.brightsideofnews.com/news/2013/4/24/amd-launches-kabini-based-g-series-soc.aspx

Actually all BSN did was open AMD's published product brief and copy-pasted the graphics and a few blurbs.

Anand doesn't do that, he does not like the idea of being a "me too" review site that just regurgitates content that is indistinguishable from one site to another.

If he can't get an interview with someone who can speak about it with authority, to add new/exclusive content to the article, then he isn't going to waste time doing what BSN did by hacking together bits from a pre-packaged product brief downloadable direct from AMD's PR site. Just not his style.
