I'd be amazed if they did it halfway decent or made more than one attempt.

Most of the folks around here with oversized pickups or SUV's park just like they drive:
As if every square foot of road is their personal property, and we're all assholes for driving on it.

Only if my car is at either end of the parking spot and they are obviously having a hard time.

I run into the spot they want to park into and wave my arms to stop them and claim I'm saving the spot for my friend. Then once they leave I continue walking to my destination

Yes, you are a dick for not helping out. I always stop to help everyone who is parallel parking, I also help all people with their groceries, and put my jacket on puddles for people walking in the rain.

wow that is weird. just keep walking.

you're not as weird as the guys that "sit, watch and laugh" though. someone is trying to park their car and you find that funny? WTF you need to get out more.

yes, but the spot was big enough to park a semi in, not exactly challenging.

Too bad you weren't there to give this guy a hand.

There's probably going to be a liability issue at some point, too.

Person 1 directs Person 2 into spot.
Person 2 does something stupid and crashes.
Person 2 sues Person 1 for giving bad directions and causing damage.

You are both stupid and a dick. But not for the reasons you stated.

Exactly.
I can appreciate the urge to be a helpful person, but more often than not it just leads to unpleasant situations.

Of course I could be overly paranoid.
Knowing what I do of the legal system and how hateful/ignorant parents are has made me scared to help out kids, especially female kids.

I currently reside in Oregon and we just had a bad winter (bad for Oregon, the snow lasted more than a day).
Most people arent prepared for snow and some are just too dumb to deal with it properly.
More than a couple times I saw girls walking home from school underdressed and it was pretty darn cold.
I let them walk.
I'd rather the dumb broad freeze than risk getting into a lawsuit because I drive her home to lawyer-happy parents.

This may seem like a non-issue to some folks but I grew up in a part of the country that encourages folks to take care of each other. If you see someone walking home in bad weather you pick them up.
Then I went to california.
After three years in that place I learned its always better to just avoid bad situations entirely. You can get sued for anything at any time, and if they have better lawyer than you they will probably win too.
Its not worth the risk.
Giving rides to young girls - No.

Sticking up for a womans honor in a bar - Hells no. If she were worth fighting for she'd be my girl and we wouldnt have been at the bar in the first place.

Providing first aid in an accident - Probably not. I'd make phone calls and pull my emergency kit out of my car, but I wouldnt risk the lawsuit involved if I hurt someone.

/RANT

There's good samaritan laws to take care of the last one. If you have no training, fine I don't blame you. But if you have training like I do (First Aid/CPR for the Professional Rescuer) and you don't help because of lawsuits then you are a douche.
