How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

vs

How much wood could a woodchunk chunk if a woodchunk could chunk wood?

Now, which one makes sense?

Do those who say chuck, chuck a rock, or chuck a baseball?

Yes, chucking is a derivative of throw. As in throw something away.

How on earth you get to chunk something is beyond me...Chunk is a noun...not a verb.

yeah. that's true.

but seriously... why do texans say chunk? i really have no idea as to where i picked it up from!!!

i agree it should be chuck (now) but I just wanted to see if other texans said chunk as well 🙂

Apparently stupid is spreading like wildfire down in Texas.

You guys are so mean. We Texans (or Austinites at least) are probably some of the most down-to-earth and friendliest people you'll meet if you come in town, so you really shouldn't be saying we're "stupid." 😛 Does saying "y'all" really correlate to being stupid as well?

For the record, I say "chunk," as in "just chunk it" or "i chunked it down the disposal." I hadn't really thought of it as a colloquial term, but it may be just that, although I accept the fact that "chuck" may be grammatically correct.

And wtf is up with people from San Diego coming into town looking for farm cowboys and cowhands that "round up the doggies?" Sure, there are cowboys and ranches in Texas, but most of us that live in the city don't carry lassos or wave / shoot our pistoles in the air as is stereotyped in Hollywood.

A little bit behind there, Amused. But it is such a good example, that you can get away with it.
