When you pay high prices at the gas station

Funny how oil companies keep saying they have no control over prices and its ALL the oil prices fault. Yet they are making MORE money while we use about the same amount (maybe a little less) of gas right now.

When I was down on Cape Cod the other day, it was 2.95...

Don't buy 93. Probably don't need it.

I have aftermarket heads on my car that have much smaller combustion chambers than stock, thus raising the compression. 93 is required now...

I have a modded Mustang BTW...

Generally, you are correct. If the car doesn't need it, it's a waste.

Funny how conspiracy theorists pretend that cheap SUVs and the massive increase in oil consumption by China is offset by the handful of Hybrids sold this year.

Up, prices, go up!

their profit margin remains steady at ~10%

would you run a business that didn't make a profit? you should be thankful there are corporations out there that provide goods you need in order to live life.

yes that is the oil prices going up. BUT if you charge the same amount to refine the oil then the price should go up on a flat scale, it does not. The price of gas has gone up faster then the price of oil. Hence the oil companies are making more money per gallon now. see greater profits on same sales per gallon.

Why would you charge for gas, let alone anything, for less than what the market is willing to pay for it? If you ran a consulting company and your customers are willing to pay $150/hour, would you still charge $125/hour?

^^ Although I partially agree, the oil companies have ALWAYS made a ton of money, and the fact that they are making an even greater % now and blame other things pisses a lot of people off.

Basically if we had to put up with that kind of crap on other goods and services, we wouldn't have money for any of them.
