also sometimes they are too big for pots. I bought like a 5 lb lobster once for $40 at a chinese market, way too big for any pot i had. Killed it with a big ass knife, kind of sucky feeling and it bled like a liter of clear fluid. Baked it though, and it tasted great.

In the supermarket that I work in, they just throw the lobster in a plastic bag and tie it shut.

When I buy lobsters they get put in a paper or plastic bag. They do move around in the bag on the way home, that's a good thing. You want them alive when you throw them into the pot or put them on the grill.

Many places that sell live lobsters will also cook them (free) for you when you buy them. It saves the bother of cooking them at home.

I've actually bought lobsters so big, that even though they took the header into the boiling water, a couple of the sonsabitches, just turned around and crawled right out of the pots. Those, got whacked on the head, sectioned, then thrown back into the pot.

BTW, a tender Filet Mignon never hurts, for an accompaniment with those.
