The only person to answer the original poster's question in this entire thread. Nice. haha

Trillian logs conversations automatically. Who the heck wants to do file save for every conversation?

AIM sucks. I finally got everyone to use MSN and now I never touch AIM. Maybe some addons to AIM would make it better but I certainly did not like the official software.

Yea, the old ones are better. 5.0 and newer are clunky, and I still think 4.8 is the best when cleaned up a bit with Deadaim or Aim+. Too bad only the newer ones let me send files through my NAT router.

Oh yea, logging? Trillian here.

That's like saying you don't like the internet because IE is such crap. There is a reason that there are so many AIM clones out there.

Thank you!

Trillian (free version) automatically logs ALL my AIM and MSN conversations into simple .txt files. There is no copy all and save as. It's all 100% automated which I love. The files are separated into AIM and MSN folders. Each screen name has it's own file name (such as FFMCobalt.txt).

Trillian get it.

Probably the biggest thing I hated about AIM was that you couldn't resize the chat boxes. It isn't a bad service but I just didn't like the software. There were other things about it that I didn't like. MSN is a lot cleaner. I think AOL will finally do it to AIM one say, they finally added voice chat after everyone and their mother had it. AOL finally noticed that all other messengers left them in the dust.

Messenger > AIM. Every time I use AIM it starts phoning home for minutes at a time and sucking up all of my incredible 56k bandwidth. I don't even know why I still have it installed.

Basically, 90% of the population uses it. If you want to talk to anyone outside your group of friends, you need AIM. You're almost lucky that your friends adopted something other than aim. I say almost, because they picked Yahoo. If it was ICQ or something really good like Jabber.

and yes, the main reason i use aim is because everyone i talked to used aim. and well, 7yrs ago or whatever it was, there was no yahoo, no msn.. just aim and ICQ... and i had to switch to aim as no one I knew used it, nor did i care to switch them. that and i use these things to chat... that's it.. i could care less for extra features :) but that's me.
