I havent had a drop since July 2008 so I wouldnt miss it. 😀

And this is why no one cares about what you think.

I always took you to be the "government stay out of my hair and don't take my freedoms" type.

:hmm:
well, unless you're a real conservative...which is to say you "hate the government," don't like them "taking your freedom" (definition of freedom for the contemporary conservative = GUNS); and of course it is totally not hypocritical to enact federal bands that take away other people's personal choice and freedoms, tell them how to live: can't smoke whatever you want, can't make choices for your own body, can't marry the person you love, etc....

awesome. then this would all make sense.

Nigel Hawthorne? 😱

I was more so referring to your desire to outlaw things because they are unhealthy....

In Demolition Man, the authoritarian state which is led by Dr Cockteau banned tobacco, alcohol, salt, meat, bad language, and all sorts of other things because they were deemed "bad for you." Was just wondering if your plan involved banning everything that's bad for people, or only things that you think are "icky."

On a side note, the nominee for Supreme Court responded to the question "would a law requiring people to eat 3 servings of vegetables be constitutional" with "it would be a stupid law" and then didn't answer the question.

Scary times.

Such a stupid question does not deserve a response. Honestly, what kind of idiot tries to bait a Supreme Court nominee with such an obvious fallacy?

Shouldn't such questions from our elected Congressmen be grounds for docking their fucking pay? What kind of plebeians elect these brainless fools, anyway?
😀

Hmm. If I remember correctly there is this other law that uses the commerce clause to force people to purchase a product from a private company and use that product. 😉

I would prefer to see smokers do what they want then to establish a Federal system to prevent or punish.
If you see a smoker and it bothers you speak to them. Don't be surprised if you get negativity sent your way.
Felix you drank till you wanted to stop. Please allow others the same courtesy.

OP should be forced to move to China where about 85% of the adult population smokes. They'll look down on him just like he looks down on smokers here. I'm assuming he's from the USA because we're the only country that has such a shitty attitude towards people for something they CHOSE to do.

Starve as in die. That sorta precludes the eating healthier part. Eliminate fast food and there would be dead bodies in the street by the end of the month.
They might die, but at least they won't die from clogged arteries.

Let me know when the sarcasm is thick enough that your meter trips.

In certain places like CA it's practically outlawed. This plus liberal hippies, you get a lot less smoking. I mean there's pot and stuff, but that's different. Public smoking? Almost nonexistent.

I was in Vegas the other day at the bar and my friend was complaining of the smoke. While I don't like smoke, I recall most clubs have a smoke smell anyway. It didn't bother me, but when reflecting upon this, I thought of what the CA bubble has done to us. We practically don't recognize smoking anymore. Then this guy lit up next to me as I was grabbing a drink. My friend and I literally choked. I was like "Wow, am I this sensitive to smoke? This is scary" I guess not being around smoke very often does that to you huh?

California is a state not the federal government.

Even socialist utopias in Europe or fundi regimes in middle east have not banned smoking - you'd be crazy to assume we'd do it.

Sadly true.

I do hope that inflicting others with second hand smoke will be considered a form of assault in the near future.

what an idiotic notion....besides the fact there remains no legitimate data on the effects of second hand smoke--the widely-repeated FDA study being thrown out by court due to faulty, and sometimes doctored data.

Of course, the validity of such studies matter little to the sheep that want to preach about perceived evils that they don't understand.

I wish stupidity was treated as a form of assault.
