Had a work meeting this morning and people were making light hearted jokes about the invasion. wtf.
People are idiots. It's only a democracy in Europe being invaded by an oppressive totalitarian. They are most likely Republicans, dumb and ignorant or simply just a-holes.

i hope good ol joe bombs the fuck out of putin

Won't happen. Putin is smart, he knows what he can get away with. He will crush the Ukraine for their perceived insolence. Install a dummy regime and then profit off the corruption while installing military installations all over the Ukraine so he can lord over Europe.

Biden won't start a literal WW3 over Ukraine.... BUT it may start anyway without his help. This is the most volatile situation the world has found itself in, in a long LONG time.

Everyone should be extremely concerned. 😕

Remember that Mike Tyson quote about plans and getting punched in the mouth? (also refer back to how Germany behaved at the start of WW2.... if I lived in Poland I'd be crapping my pants)

The Russians did get a puppet into the presidency but that guy got impeached.

Now they’re taking Europe’s Texas by force.

Biden's response seemed pretty weak. Putin just invaded a sovereign nation, and we did basically did little more then send them a disapproving e-mail in response.
You saw what happened with the US stepped in to take the Taliban out of Afghanistan. 20 years and a total loss for the US. Loss of US lives, US money, and US credibility. And the Afghanis basically didn't do a thing to help in the fight. The west should not repeat this mistake over and over again. We should not be the world's police.

It sounds terribly cold to say it, but countries need to fight their own battles. When that happens, the US can step in and help. But not the other way around where the US steps in first.

Biden’s a lawyer. Bold words, little bite comes out of judges and lawyers every day in every courtroom.

It’s a de facto all clear for Putin and he’s just hiding it through diction.

There is no comparison here. Russia is invading.

We’re the world’s bailout card though. I doubt anyone is dumb enough to Pearl Harbor us this time.

I think the big differentiating factor here is airpower.

While the Arab Spring turned into a proper mess, the doctine that was employed where US knocks out enemy airpower and heavy armor, then lets events on the ground unfold, us arguably the wisest method forward for the US after two painful ground invasions of our own.

Didn't Ukraine recently purchase 250 Abrams tanks from the USA?

Thought I saw a report somewhere . . . probably Facebook. No link . . ah, maybe this'll do?

Yes, Russia is invading. But, we have no agreement to protect Ukraine and we should not be the world's police. I have no problems stepping in with troops as needed. But, that should not be the first go-to option. Other countries need strong defenses and relying on the US once again will never get us there. US force should come later as a last resort, not as a first resort.

Sanctions are slow: they don't prevent any battle. But over years, sanctions do work wonders. See the break up of the Soviet Union as an example.
