He's avoiding the issue of whether Israel should be destroyed - repeating that the people of Palestine should freely choose what happens.

Pretty much avoided every question so far. Ah, a politician.

I can only imagine the horror the Iranian people must live in - being ruled by a group that prays for the return of an ancient mythical messiah who would bring about the end of times...

Are you alluding that our President prays for the Apocalypse and for all people to convert or die to his religion?

Well, our president DOES believe that what you said is true, so from an atheists point of view their religious beliefs can certainly be compared although in Iran the Muslim religion has alot more sway than Christianity does here, but don't be too quick to discount how much of our political policy is religiously based.

Iran doesn't execute homosexuals.

Unless he knows something that the media doesn't publish. People disappearing.

The difference in America however is that that group has virtually no legitimate legal power with which to force the religious beliefs on others, whereas in Iran that group has almost complete legal power with which to do so.

I just find it amusing that MA's retarded beliefs are held as a liability, while the same retarded beliefs are held in esteem when espoused by american conservatives.

The doublethink is strong in a lot of people...

As for the CBS interview... I watched the full version from C-SPAN and it is obvious that Mike Wallace needs to be put out to pasture with Dan Rather. He was condecending at times and disrespectful in general -not only with words but gestures.

That was the old interview. A new one aired last night.

I watched the Pelley one also and he was a bit a dick as well.

The most important question is will his speech and the questions presented to him be shown live and uncensored in Iran.

I think the bigger question is will it be uncensored in America. It seems that a lot of Americans don't want to listen to him, thus they don't think he should have the opportunity to speak. What a good way to show how open minded and Free we are to the rest of the world.

It looks like you got an answer to your question.

If the majority of Americans chose to become a christian theocracy, that would be their choice. I would, obviously, leave. You make it sound as if I'm happy with EVERYTHING that happens in this country. I'm not. But, like you, I have limits.

As for protesting in Iran, I have no intention to. Until I do and I get a refusal will I believe your stories on that nation. Until then, you're just blowing hot air and insulting another nation when yours isn't exactly in the best of shape. Remember, a hundred-fifty years ago this great democracy had slaves. Fifty years ago not all its citizens had the same right. Of course the laws have been fixed with the intention to set things right but it doesn't mean they have. So get of your high horse and step into reality. Stop criticizing other nations unless yours has no blemish.

I'm not criticizing another nation, I'm criticizing its leadership. I'm a big fan of the Iranian people and culture. In fact, I will be visiting there early next year.

You got a serious problem with straw man. It seems you can't argue without making up your opponent's argument for them. I never said that America is perfect, nor does my argument require that it be so. Just like with your repeated Bush references, your straw men are entirely irrelevant. You're just swinging at air.

BTW, I hope that Ahmadinejad speaks until he's blue in the face. The very fact that he can do so is what proves me right.

You have no right to criticize another nation (or its regime) unless you can prove that your own nation (and its regime) has not carried out the same crimes, otherwise I'd spent the entire day calling you a hypocrite. The only people that can criticize Iran are the Iranians, not American with an agenda. Again, I'd take your concerns more seriously if you came higher moral ground. But you don't so this protest or 'concern' about the Iranian people is extremely moot. Worry about the people who are homeless because of Katrina.

Was this speech a complete setup? The President of Columbia destroyed the Iranian President for about 15 minutes - and there was nothing he could do except stand there. Was this the plan all along? Perhaps by alumni donors of Columbia?
