I can't remember. I linked my .txt (and a slew of other standard text files such as .conf, etc) to Wordpad. The Windows 7 version of Wordpad is pretty damn nice.

When Notepad has support for Unix line endings, I might open it again.

And those of you on Mac, give TextWrangler a try.

I used it 2 nights ago. In college we have to copy our configs and various show commands from Cisco gear for the professor to review for our lab grade. I use it 2-3 times a week.

Every weekday. Prepping config changes on notepad, then copy paste bit by bit. My newer Nexus switches I can do that now on the switch itself without worry that it'll overwrite whatever I had on there but I still use notepad out of habit.

did use it a lot but I since changed it to akelpad. It is just as small in size as notepad but has more features. I also set it to replace notepad in windows anytime and application calls for notepad.
http://sourceforge.net/projects/akelpad/

One of the features in akelpad I found I can't live without is it can capture anything copied to the clipboard without having to switch to the app and click paste. It just automatically copies it to a page when you select cut or copy. So when browsing and want to save links or whatever I just copy and can sort it later.

I use it all the time for what it was intended for. Writing down quick notes without having to use a pen and paper.
I also use it as the default application for opening most types of plain text files. If I'm making a quick edit to a .html, .aspx, .sql, or .config, Notepad is much faster than opening an IDE like Visual Studio.

I also use it like some others have mentioned, to get rid of formatting when copying and pasting.

I use TextEdit (Mac Notepad) regularly at work to take quick notes that I will then place elsewhere once I've determined where they go.

not a notepad. The Notepad.

I used it a few minutes ago to type an address someone was giving me over the phone.

Several times a day. I use it to copy and paste bits of a log file out to build my ticket for IBM/Adobe/etc. I also jot down ideas/notes with it.

Is there a notepad type program that also allows you to draw(like diagrams)?

I can't believe I'm bumping an Arcadio thread.
