I have heard from numerous websites that the X800 XT is coming out either soon, or not.

Best Buy= NOW
Newegg= 8/15/04
ATI= 10/15/04

WTF? I have already ordered (or preordered) an x800 XT and am getting friggin tired of not knowing when it is actually getting released. If anyone has any idea (or if you already have an X800 XT, damn you) please post it here.

Thanks-
Jack

Check this out!

I'm fed up with this launch. Personally I'm ok but a lot of people are asking me where the GD cards are and I can only shake my head at this point.

Good things come to those who wait?

Now where is my Butal?!!!

Cheers!

The X800XT has been out for a few months now, and several forum members have one in their possession.

well hopefully ATi will get it out soon. Otherwise go for a Geforce 6800GT. Seems like a good buy right now and its avaliable at most places.

holy cow, $999?!

i think its better that you wait for both companies to get optimised drivers and then go, as you'll get a less skewed perspective on performance

I don't know the reason, but IMO ATI is having major production problems. OEMs and builders like Dell get first crack at the chips that they do have, then they'll fill OEM and distrubutors' orders for the more affordable X800Pro (using XT-capable chips if neccessary).

If they're running on short supply, it makes sense that the flagship product would be in short supply at retail as they try to to maximize their profit on other obligations. Why they don't just admit this and can the retail release is a mystery to me, though.

I belive the only ones Dell has are the PCI-Express ones that are not XTPE's they are just plain XT's with lower clock speeds. Also right now there is rumor that ATI is discontinuing the XTPE's over on the RAge3d forums. There is a link to the thread in our video forum.

I saw that rumor last night, and I think that would be the wise move on ATI's part. I doubt they'll announce it officially, though, as that would basically be admitting full defeat to NV for this round. There's been a slow trickle of XT's coming into stores like Newegg and ZZF that may continue just to keep up appearances (at $600-$1000 that isn't very convincing, though).

I agree with you here. I wouldn't even spread this around if I didn't think it was quite possibly VERY true. You can go to Nvnews.net and see a ton of people with Ultras even though yes they are hard to find but the the XTPE is almost non existant other than a hand full of people here and there and company's charging outragous prices for them. If ATI actually announced that they were done with them that would be a very bad thing for ATI IMO. I do have a feeling they will have a part out soon that will have highier quantity's of and goo performance though.

Why are you waiting for an inferior product? Get the 6800 Ultra; you'll get faster play in Doom3 and according to the beta benches, Half Life 2 as well. The X800XT isn't worth the price since it clearly plays 2nd fiddle to nVidia.

well, to get the Geforce 6800, I would need a 150-200$ PSU upgrade for a product that is not quite as reliable as ATI's. So I am just wating for the x800.

Thanks for your input though!

uhh why do u need 150 to 200 for a PSU??? Why do u even need a PSU upgrade? They are speced for 350watt PSU so what are you talking about???? Anything te XTPE runs on I'm sure will run a 6800 Ultra...

im tempted to flame you hot and crispy, but i wont. theres no need to upgrade Power supply provided yours is of a decent quality. Nvidia are like any company, they want to cover there backs, so they state high power requirements. all you should really need are stable voltages and a couple omolex splitters for about $4

If you don't like nVidia, or are just devoted to ATi, then say so, but don't make up reasons.

ATi and nVidia are equally reliable.

6800s, as said before, are rated to run on 350W PSUs. Beyond that, $150-$200!!???? I got a 420W Thermaltake PSU from NewEgg for $37 shipped. I also regularly see 350W antec PSUs on Ebay for $35-$40.

So be a fanboy if need be, but don't use fake reasons. I have 3 ATi cards before i got my 6800GT. I had even preordered the X800, but then did some reseach and canceled my order and picked up the superior piece of hardware. If you are gonna spend your hard earned money, spend it on the best hardware you can get, not your favorite brand name.

Dont get me wrong- I am no fanboy of ATI. I currently have a Geforce FX 5600. One reason I am partially sore towards nvidia is because they were lazy enough to not make specific drivers for my video card, so I had to dl something other than the exact driver update, and guess what? the updated F'ed up my games, making them run SLOWER than if I had to update. WTF is that all about.
Also, the Geforce's video cards frequently have a problem with setting up pixels on your screen; an error occurs that causes a pixel, and numerous around it, to turn the same color, causing resolution to fall.

And unless someone uses the $500 Geforce 6800 Ult. dont tell me the energy can be handled on a 350 Watt psu.

Now that I have clarified my position, please refrain from telling me about the 6800 and how it "smokes" the x800 XT.
