I have two TESmart KVM switches one for each 4k monitor, primary and secondary, they have been flawless and probably the most reliable switches I've ever used. Most others lock up are slow, and just overall garbage. However a problem recently just started. When I switch the 2nd one to switch the secondary monitor, it will cause both monitors to do a reset. The whole reason I put a KVM is to avoid just that, because when you switch inputs on the monitor or even simply turn it off the same happens. This is to ensure I can do a seamless transition between work and home without my windows being reshuffled all over the place or that I can turn off my monitor without that happening too. This is a HUGE issue in windows, but unfortunately even Linux Mint seems to experience it now too. This had originally fixed my problem, until now.

Basically what happens is when the secondary switch is switched to the active PC that's when it causes the reset to happen.

I also get this error in dmsg, I assume it's related:

Code:
[3819817.634390] pcieport 0000:00:03.1: AER: Multiple Corrected error received: 0000:07:00.0
[3819817.634401] amdgpu 0000:07:00.0: PCIe Bus Error: severity=Corrected, type=Data Link Layer, (Receiver ID)
[3819817.634403] amdgpu 0000:07:00.0: device [1002:67df] error status/mask=000000c0/00002000
[3819817.634406] amdgpu 0000:07:00.0: [ 6] BadTLP
[3819817.634409] amdgpu 0000:07:00.0: [ 7] BadDLLP

Anyone know how to solve this? I want to ensure that the PC does not even know that the KVM is being switched, as that is what causes it to reset the monitors and reshuffle all the windows. All links are via HDMI. My work PC uses DP to HDMI, but currently is not hooked up so that's out of the equation.

From further troubleshooting it seems the issue does not happen if there's at least two PCs connected to it. Essentially the only time I typically do switch it is when I'm working from home as I'll switch the top monitor to work and then switch it back to home after my shift. But if I take my work PC away while it's still switched to it, then switch it to home, that's when it seems to make all hell break loose. At least that seems to be it anyway, I try not to play too much with it as when it does happen it causes lot of issues with windows flying all over.

It sounds like you are running two KVMs, one with each monitor.

I have a TESmart 4K 60Hz dual monitor KVM. I have been running it for about a year now with out an issue. I like it since I can turn off the KVM and run my gaming monitor at 144Hz with out switching cables around. When I am at home working, I will throw a movie on my second monitor and hit my P button on my remote to bring up my work computer on my primary monitor. Every time I do this both monitors reset every time and then settle down and work fine with out flickering.

Does the dual one still let you switch the monitors independently? That is something I might consider if I run into issues again. But it does seem to be ok now, as long as I always have 2 PCs connected to it. If I only have 1 PC as long as I don't try to switch it, it will also be fine.
