This obsession the general public has with lawsuits makes me quite nervous. And it's only getting worse. I had a customer come over from Denmark a few years ago to build a server that he was going to be colocating at our office. He bought a giant server case and proceeded to cut himself assembling the system. He had to go back to the place where he bought the system and mentioned to them about cutting himself on the case in passing. He came back to the office and jokingly said to me " I realized on the drive back here that I'm in the states, I could probably sue them".

It's really kind of sad. Welcome to America, where everyone has their lawyer on speeddial.

"most people should know that eating a Big Mac is different than eating lettuce."
Eatinmg a Big Mac is different from eating any healthy fare. If you are going to eat poison you should have at least a clue that it is going to make you sick, especially if you eat enough of it.

I think this quote from the article sums things up pretty well:

"The notion that there's no parental authority over these children is ridiculous," said Mike Burita, a spokesman for the Center for Consumer Freedom, an organization representing restaurant operators and individuals who want to preserve consumer choice. "Do little kids steal their parent's car keys and drive themselves to McDonald's?"

Big Mac: 590 kcal

Super Size Fries: 610 kcal

Humongo Coke: ~300kcal

Nestle Crunch McFlurry: 630 kcal

Grand total: 2130 kcal.....which is approximately equal to my daily BMR. All in one meal. If that won't make you fat, I don't know what will.

At the record pace we graduate them from law schools they have to find something to do to pay back all those loans and make the Beemer payments.

From the article:

"Children clearly are not capable of making health-related decisions," he said. "McDonald's tries to attract children and has an obligation to them."
What about the PARENTS' obligation to the kids? Instead of calling a lawyer and suing McDonalds on their kids' behalf, the parents should have told the kids to get off of their fat asses and exercise. Personally, I think we'd be better off if the kids sued the parents for being morons.

Wow, these parents are going to get REAMED on the witness stand.

However, the fact that Fast Food, Cereal labels, and Candy specifically market children is highly irritating to me. I these companies want me to have my kids consume their products they should be appealing to me instead of trying to convince my child that he eating a happy meal will make him happy. :disgust:

The American Dream has evolved over the years into which of my fellow Americans or corporations can I score off of by fvckng them over with a lawsuit.

Who the hell needs to work when all you need is a lawyer.

If all those Fast Food joints were to close down the average lifespan of the American probably would increase 10 years. I do think they are a major reason why the current generation is a bunch of fat pigs.

I look at it this way, yet another reason to hate lawyers..

and the new American way...it is always someone else fault for our gross obesity, financial situation, etc...

No one will admit that they are poor because they work for low wages in a job they hate because they choose to not do anything about it, edumaction peoples...

No one will admit that their child is a waste of bandwith down the road of humanity because of their own inadeqacies as parents...

No one can admit they are a lardass because they eat too much and don't exercise...

The sooner people get their heads out of their own asses, the sooner they can do something about their problems.

I hope Mickey D's countersues them for stupidity and ships their corpulent bloated stupidity to a fat farm, as well as get a chunk of change so stupid lawsuits would cease.

It would be worth it to go to one of these trials as a spectator and make hogs at the trough noises during the plaintiff's opening statements.

At the most the judge would give you 3 days for contempt and I need another tattoo anyway.

I think that there should be a new law regarding suing people. I think that the people that are suing should have to pay lawyer costs for both sides if they lose. That would stop a lot of people from filing ridiculous lawsuits. Especially up against a company like McDonalds where I'm sure they've already spent well over a million defending themselves. This is ludicrous.

IDIOTS.

I see your point... I don't eat McD's, and don't recommend anybody does. But have you ever heard a child whining for McDonald's? The marketing and quick-fix nature of the food is tremendously addictive to children, that's on purpose. It's friggin torture to parents, in the supermarket and stuff, to have their children whining for brightly-colored boxes of sugar-cereal they saw on the commercial 18 times last Saturday. Same goes for McDonald's.

However, the fact that Fast Food, Cereal labels, and Candy specifically market children is highly irritating to me. I these companies want me to have my kids consume their products they should be appealing to me instead of trying to convince my child that he eating a happy meal will make him happy.
Well said Yamaha. And realize these companies know that they will sell more stuff if they market to children than the adults... really sad but true..
:(

But when I have children I'm gonna be a total nazi about that stuff... just like my parents did to me, now I'm thanking them. :D

I bet in the very near future we are going to see warning labels on all fat opps i meant fast food packaging.

"Warning, consumption of this product may cause Obesity, Heart Disease, Diabetes. Use this product at your own risk"
