there's the voice of reason. besides, Canada doesn't start stupid wars every other year, and you can have pot delivered right to your front door. i'd rather be smoking a philly than getting shot and murdered. anyone with me?

Well if everyone felt that way, we'd all be speaking German and wearing swastikas professing our loyalty to the Nazi party. I mean, everyone knows that people join the military because getting shot and killed is near the top of everyone's list of favorite things to do; there are NO other reasons one might join the military, such as service to one's country, protecting one's freedom, defeating oppressive regimes, or any frivolous things like that.

Thank goodness not all men are lacking a pair. Go to Canada, they don't seem to mind cowards (since they have us to protect them).

I don't think I'd get drafted but if I did I would move across the river to Canada. I'm not going to fight a war oil fields nor will I fight a war over North Korea. If people were invading my country, then I would fight. Maybe Bush, the CEO of Shell, Mobile etc... can send over some of their nephews, sons, daughters etc... I doubt that would happen, only the poor people like me and you are sent over. God bless America.

Im in the military right now, and whatever happens, I just want the people of America to recognize the sacrifice we have made and are willing to make so that our country will stand as the beacon of freedom. We have a great nation, something I've never known until I joined. I love my country and I'm proud to serve you all. I hope beyond anything that if something happens that I can make my country and family proud even if it involves never seeing either again.

This is Fvcking sad....have some respect. AMERICANS died in Iraq, thousands more have Desert storm syndrome ,there will be losses again on our side no matter whether we "win" and how "easy" this war is or not. How do you think those families feel about their loved ones who died in the Gulf or recently in Afghanistan. I'm sure they all feel that it was all trivial and a pushover. I absolutely do not want to lose my life so the leaders of this country( Exxon, Mobile, Chevron, Texaco) can just line their damn pockets with more cash for petroleum, which BTW is used in a completely out of date technology (combustion engine). Some of you talk about how Bush wants to rid the world of people who F people over, what about the Russians in Chechnya and the Chinese in Tibet, NONONO these countries are way big (dangerous) to F with, so we just talk about those we can bully.

This is not Ureal Tournament, you don't press fire and respawn

WAR IS HELL

Those that also think America is this big ol defender of freedom should realize that we just switch sides with whomever we feel is most important at the time, ie first we gave weapons to Iran, then to Iraq to fight Iran, then to Afghanistan to fight Russia, we can't make up our damn minds.

I certainly thank you for your sacrafice, and no matter how I feel about why our country does the things it does. I totally support our troops and wish them safe returns home. For all its faults, this country still is pretty good to live in.

I hope it doesn't come to war.

Having said that, I have a disqualifying medical exemption. Shoulda got me between the ages of 18 and 24, I would have went.

Very true, I don't think people realize this but if things got truely bad enough they'd draft 12 year olds if they had to. Although the chance of this happening is about 0

The Nazi's were an easy target, from a propaganda point of view. They engaged in mass, organized genocide and aggressive war. The link between evil and Naziism wasn't hard to show.

Hussein is a little less black and white, as is our own involvement.

Ditto.

So many people on these boards have this Half-Life mentality of the world. Never occurs to them that bullets kill in real life.

Exactly. What bothers me the most is that these people like to call others out for being anti-war yet these same people aren't running to the local recruiting office signing up. Some of these people should get a grasp of reality and stop watching war movies. If you want reality, go watch a Vietnam documentary. Young kids being taken away to some far off land, dropped off in some remote jungle, being blown up and slaughtered left and right. People losing their limbs from land mines, shot in various part of the body etc.. Just plain grusome.

I signed up for Selective Service when I was 18 (the draft). If I'm called, I'll go and serve. My father before me served, and I'll do the same if called up.

God Bless America!

Good to know there are still some REAL Americans out there. Anyone who isnt willing to take up arms and defend our nation or those who cant defend themselves need to make a bee-line right out of America. Perhaps many dont realize that its YOUR US MILITARY that provides this safe haven. If thats not worth defending, then by all means go live in Iraq or North Korea and enjoy the easy lifestyle they provide, I'm sure tree bark (thats what common folk in north koreans mix in they're meager portions of rice for roughage) makes a tasty meal.

The true American spirit would be questioning the government's decisions before blinding following along. It would be unwise to just always think because the governemnt says so that its a good idea.
