When did you stop mooching off your parents?

s/smooching/mooching

When I was 18 my dad said "I'm moving out, you have to pay the apartment rent."

And so it was.

I left home at 17, 3 days after graduating from high school. I had thirty bucks in my pocket and my buddy had about fifteen. We worked for room, board and gas money. We went hungry on occasion, but we had a lot of good times. Eventually joined the Army and the rest is history.

When I turned 15 and got my first job. Paid for my own clothes and entertainment from that day forth. If I ever did borrow from them I always repaid in full.
My Mom has been gone for 17 years and my Dad 6.

Caucasions seem to move out and live on their own a lot faster than Asians.

I'm 20 but my parents want me to live at home since I eat better here, have a better place to live in, and able to only have to worry about school. I'm not complaining.

I got a job at 16.

Basically i was free from them from there, although they did give me a few bucks here and there when i was in college.

No kidding. I have Asian neighbors that live a couple of doors down from me and I think they have 3 generations at least living in the same house.

A lot of places in the south are like that. Some people never leave their county/parish.
