When bulking.. how much fat should you expect to gain?

A lot of people are happy with a 1:1 ratio (muscle:fat) when bulking. When you're just starting and you are farther away from your genetic limit, muscle gains will be much easier though and you may not gain nearly as much fat.

What was your starting weight and current weight? When did you start bulking? What was your body fat % before starting and what about now? How much are you eating over maintenance? If you're gaining too much fat, you may want to slow down the bulk a bit.

yah i've been bulking since my trip to cancun at the end of last july and my abs aren't really present currently. however my abs are tons stronger now than they previously were and i'm solid as a rock in my mid section, i just have this layer of fat over it. the fat around my belly is more in my lower abs area than the upper, although it's still all over. i also have gained some fat around the love handle area and it's noticeable when i especially lean over to the side.

but it's okay. i've gained a little over 30lbs since i've started bulking and the fact that i can still see my abs somewhat tells me i've put a lot of that weight on as muscle.

i also continue to tell myself that more muscle means it'll be easier for me to burn more fat when i do on my leaning cycle.

also, i'm eating pretty much whatever i want now. that includes pizza, cookies, chips ... basically anything and everything.

Whats your diet like? You shouldn't gain that much fat when bulking if you don't eat lots of crap. Your probably eating too many carbs in your bulking so cut back a bit on that.

6'6", 238

6000 calories a day

2700 from 3 cyto gainer shakes w/ 2 cups of milk
2/3 lb of ground beef a day (sometimes 2 chicken breasts instead)
maybe egg sandwhiches (4 eggs) later on
Sandwhich with turkey/cheese
Peanut butter toast or tuna melt
Occasionally fruit/veggies

Try to train 5 times a week, usually rotates specific days.

Chest/Triceps
Back/Biceps/Lats
Delts/Traps
Triceps/Biceps
Legs

I do cardio 2-3 times a week for 10-15 minutes, and lately swimming for 15 minutes once a week, and usually some sort of team sport for 2-3 hours.

Other then Cyto Gainer, I take Orange Triad (vitamin + joint support), I mix my own workout drink (Cyto Max, Beta Alanine, Citruline Malate, Caffeine), and have been taking X-Factor. I just bought some Cissus Rx as well to fight some tendonitis.

And I've gained 45 pounds now since November 2006. Phew!

Once my X-factor run is up in 25 days I'll post some Nov2006 to Feb2008 pictures, it's a whole new person.

Did you consult a physician or professional before taking the supplements that you are now?

I want to try supplementing my workout and nutrition plan, but its not worth it at an added risk of bad side effects. Right now, i just take Centrum with my nutrition plan and workout schedule. My doctor recommended CosaminDS (glucosamine supplement for knee) a while ago, and thinking about starting back on it.

goal is to reduce 20lb of fat and gain 10lb of muscle. 5'6 - 160 currently.

Total calories are also a factor. You can eat 100% clean but still gain fat. You need to eat above maintenance to gain muscle, but increasing your calories beyond a certain point will only cause you to add extra fat.

People who are new to lifting will see much more favorable ratios of muscle gain to fat gain.
