When are we finally going to get holographic televisions?

And dont tell me we dont have the capability to somehow make this a reality. Do I have to launch a startup and call Descartes for some venture capital to get this underway? Or will somebody else get off their lazy butt and get this done already? 😕

We'll get it the same year we get flying cars.
They have prototypes for holography, but practicality issues (cost, visual quality, etc) keep it from coming to market.

Look, I dont want excuses. I want answers! I have taken this b.s. for long enough, and Im not going to take it anymore!

I want my holoTV! :|

The next big thing will be 3d displays. There is already a prototype that uses the same size dimensions as a normal lcd display but has special lenses inside the display that allow someone to view it in 3d without any glasses.

While it does sound intriguing, its only a hollow attempt at actual three dimensional television that can only be achieved through holography. 🙁

Well you see there is a problem making a holographic display. You have to be able to stop light at a point in space, not something easily done. That is why most prototype holographic displays use a fog of something to react with the light. The display you linked uses the same trick as the old paper and pencil cartoon flip books. It will not work for a full color display with the detail of hdtv.

Also if people got headaches staring at a 60hz display, this would be even worse. One of the problems they are also having with 3d movies. People don't like to look at flicker for a long period of time.

I'd be more than happy to wear polarized lenses to watch 3D TV.

Wikipedia link to the technology that requires no glasses please.

Flying cars aren't available to the general public because the general public can barely handle driving on the ground. And the sky's are already getting clogged up with to many planes.

Hahaha. Man, flying cars?? Was society ever naive enough to think they were a good idea? People can barely drive safely on the road, imagine adding another dimension. It would be chaos.

Flying cars will never work, not unless they give people a brain upgrade as part of the deal.
