Maybe she should just follow them from Crawford to DC when Bush's month-long vacation is up? ;)

She's free to camp outside. I wouldn't want her directly disrupting important Presidential business.

Bush is better than I gave him credit for!
He is so polished and professional, he has people thinking his job is so easy and can take so much time off... That is the mark of a true leader ;)

CINDY 2004

THE REPORTER of Vacaville, CA published an account of Cindy Sheehan's visit with the president at Fort Lewis near Seattle on June 24, 2004:

"'I now know he's sincere about wanting freedom for the Iraqis,' Cindy said after their meeting. 'I know he's sorry and feels some pain for our loss. And I know he's a man of faith.'

"The meeting didn't last long, but in their time with Bush, Cindy spoke about Casey and asked the president to make her son's sacrifice count for something. They also spoke of their faith.

"The trip had one benefit that none of the Sheehans expected.

"For a moment, life returned to the way it was before Casey died. They laughed, joked and bickered playfully as they briefly toured Seattle.

For the first time in 11 weeks, they felt whole again.

"'That was the gift the president gave us, the gift of happiness, of being together,' Cindy said."

CINDY 2005

Sheehan's current comments are a striking departure.

She vowed on Sunday to continue her protest until she can personally ask Bush: "Why did you kill my son?"

In an interview on CNN, she claimed Bush "acted like it was party" when she met him last year.

"It was -- you know, there was a lot of things said. We wanted to use the time for him to know that he killed an indispensable part of our family and humanity. And we wanted him to look at the pictures of Casey.

"He wouldn't look at the pictures of Casey. He didn't even know Casey's name. He came in the room and the very first thing he said is, 'So who are we honoring here?' He didn't even know Casey's name. He didn't want to hear it. He didn't want to hear anything about Casey. He wouldn't even call him 'him' or 'he.' He called him 'your loved one.'

Every time we tried to talk about Casey and how much we missed him, he would change the subject. And he acted like it was a party.

BLITZER: Like a party? I mean...

SHEEHAN: Yes, he came in very jovial, and like we should be happy that he, our son, died for his misguided policies. He didn't even pretend like somebody...

END

On her current media tour, Sheehan has not been asked to explain her twist on Bush; from praise to damnation!
She doesn't have to explain it. She's a flip-flopper, like so many of the anti-war crowd.

Apparently, there's been an arrest of the asshat who drove his pickup truck with a chain and pipe lashed to the back, over the memorial crosses. His arrest photo even features him in an orange jumpsuit -- just like at Gitmo! He should be proud.

That's the part that angers me. They aren't limiting their comments to criticizing her actions. They are attacking her personally. It is one of the signature tactics of BushCo and its minions
It should anger you that American politics in general have deteriorated to the point where attacking or otherwise discrediting the individual takes precedent over attacking the message...this tactic is not exclusive to the Republicans, the NeoCons or the Bush Administration for that matter.

Just take a look at some of the anti-Bush posts on this forum, or the manner in which the left targets Bush...tend to be heavy on attacking Bush as a person and less on evaluating or criticizing his qualities as a President, and the policies of his Administration.

Dirty politics is certainly not exclusive to the Bush Administration, or American politics for that matter...I would imagine even the Roman Senate experienced its fair share of intrigue and character smearing in the name of consolidating power.

While the Bush Administration, or the Rove machine, might be particularly effective at utilizing such tactics, they are not the first, nor will they be the last.

Local resident Offers his land to protesters in Crawford

<CLIP>

CRAWFORD - One of President Bush's neighbors has offered the free use of his land to dozens of war protesters who have camped in roadside ditches for the past 11 days.

Fred Mattlage sympathizes with the demonstrators and wants them to have more room, they said. Their makeshift camp off the winding, two-lane road leading to Bush's ranch has agitated residents, who are complaining of traffic jams and blocked roads.

Cindy Sheehan of Vacaville, Calif., started the vigil Aug. 6 to honor her son Casey, who died in Iraq last year. Sheehan vows to remain through Bush's monthlong ranch vacation unless he meets with her and other grieving families.

Mattlage made the offer Monday night and protesters accepted it Tuesday. It will put them about a mile closer to Bush's ranch than Sheehan's "Camp Casey," said Hadi Jawad of the Crawford Peace House, which is helping the group.

They will start moving their tents, anti-war banners and portable toilets today and hope to have the new camp set up in time for a dusk candlelight vigil.

Mattlage's distant cousin who owns nearby land, Larry Mattlage, fired a shotgun twice into the air Sunday but no one was injured. Fred Mattlage said he does not share his cousin's frustrations with the group, Jawad said.

True he did volunteer, the question you need to ask yourself is if Bush's daughters were enlisted would he be so willing to send them over in the line of danger.

Looking at the news tonight, it struck me that Bill Clinton had a better time with Monika than George is with Cindy!

Its gotta be more fun having it lovingly sucked than having it bit like a breadstick.

In other news: The Iraqi erection is beginning to sag.

Agreed. I do believe, however, that not only is the Bush/Rove machine especially effective at such sleazy tactics, it is also especially shameless and vicious about using them. They've taken dirty politics to new lows.

In the aftermath of the McCarthy witch-hunts, there was a guy named Nixon that adopted this tactic against his opponents,
and while he was President extended this method of disinformation and personal attacks agaisnt all who questions his ethics.

Under Nixon ther was this guy named Donald Segretti - who carried out and performed the dirty tricks operations.

Gues who worked with Segretti on Political Character Assinations

Exactly. So you now agree I can freely criticize Sheehan just as you criticize me.

Glad we finally have that cleared up.

If she's on public land it's one thing, but if she's on private she needs to move off it. Let her protest on the streets if she must, but not on someone elses lawn.

Well now they are moving to Fred Mattlage's (cousin of tough guy) parcel of land that is even closer to the Bush ranch. So one less thing for people to bitch about. Now they can continue on with the "her story changed" bs and the "Dishonoring Casey" tripe.

Right now, she's literally in a ditch. There's a certain amount of public land on either side of a public road, so she's not on private land.

Yup, you can. But you have no more right to complain about those who attack you and others for it than they do. So quit your belly aching about it.

Oh, I've never criticized you for your position on this issue. Frankly I couldn't care less about the whole issue.

Actually, I do have more right to complain about it because personal flames are not supposed to be permissable in this forum. ATP&N is not Crawford and TLC is not Cindy Sheehan. There are different rules here.

Many of the same people complaining about me criticizing Sheehan flame Bush, Rumsfeld, Rice, et al at every opportunity and often in much nastier fashion and feel they have every right to do so. That's hypocrisy.

Since you seem to think it's ok to personally flame others in many threads on this forum, that argument holds absolutely no water. Oh, but you never flame first... right.
