7.3. My lowly Phenom II 955 is really bringing the number down.

I think it's strange how there's so much variation in the numbers. MY i5-2500k only gets 7.6 at 4.2 GHz, which isn't far off from the 7.3 you're getting with your Phenom II 955. A Core 2 Quad at 2.5 GHz also gets around 7.3. Someone had a stock i7-2600 get a 7.7.

Most benchmarks would show an overclocked 2500k as being about 2x as fast as a Phenom II 955. I guess Microsoft's rating scale gets VERY nonlinear towards the top end :D

"My windows experience?" wondered a Linux user. "Not as horrid as I'd like it to be.", he answered. Besides, Vista would not go to 7.9 anyway.

I'm wondering why the 460 scored lower than expected here from what i've seen in other scores of comparable cards.

Getting a 5670 soon to bring things up a bit and then done for a little while, anyway...

don't do much gaming do you?

Up until now, almost none! :D

All I want to do is play Starcraft II and the original Bioshock @ 1440x900. From what I've read the 5670 should be enough (please, please correct me if I'm wrong before I spend any money!). The last non-integrated graphics I had was the Abit Siluro Ti4200. Ah, the days...

I also want a decent card to play with OpenCL on. I like threads

The 5670 I don't think will do SC2 justice.

At 1440x900 it should be able to handle High graphics with a fast enough processor and 4GB RAM. I'm able to with an old Geforce 9800GT with a C2D E7400 running completely stock, no OC.

And for the OP, I get 5.9 on all my boxes that use regular ol' hard drive. Interestingly the one machine where I have an Intel X25-V I get 7.8 which is surprising considering it's not exactly the world's fastest SSD.

What storage devices do you have to get 7.9?

I'm only at 7.6 with gen 1 vertex in Raid 0... /cry

At any rate:
CPU: 7.4
RAM: 7.4
GPU: 7.9
Gaming GPU: 7.9
Storage: 7.6

This with a q9550 @ 3.6GHz, 6970 @ 950Mhz/1435MHz, and 8GB of Ram @ 1400ish MHz, and 2 OCZ Vertex 120GB in Raid 0

What is your drives read write speed?

CPU: 5.0 T7200
RAM: 5.0 2GB (would go to 4 but no 64 bit drivers for some laptop components)
GPU: 5.6 go 7600 gt (OCed from 500/600 to 590/735)
G.G: 5.2 Bios lock on GPU speed maybe? Temps are fine but anything over 600 gives video driver error. If anyone knows anything about this, I'd be interested.
HD : 5.5 scorpio blue 160gb (sata 1.5 sadly), looking to either raid or cheap boot SSD in future

GPU at stock speed gave 5.2/4.9 if I recall so pretty balanced laptop overall.

Interesting how the GTS450 Sonic scored higher than 2 people's GTX460
