i've eaten 50 pieces in one sitting, mostly tuna and salmon on rice. i'm about 5'7" and 140 pounds (prefood, i suppose). i'm assuming the average anandtecher is bigger and will be able to outeat me by quite a margin ;)

I've probably had a total of 12 pieces, but that is more from not having enough money than anything else.

I had all you can eat one time, and had about 35 or 40 pieces, can't remember. Had a food coma afterwards, and my stomach expanded with all the rice after about 45 minutes, not pleasant...

50? That's all? Luckily I'm 6'2", ~300 lbs.

Yesterday afternoon, to celebrate finals and the semester being done, my wife and I went out for sushi and dinner. I ate 5 plates of 6 piece sushi, and that included dinner, and I was still wanting for more, just stopped because of money issues. For one of my brother's birthdays I ate about 80, moaybe 90 pieces. I was hurting afterwards (in the wallet area), but damn, there's this place nearby that has good sushi, not as good as back home in Hawai`i, but pretty good.

Mostly spicy tuna rolls, and salmon skin rolls.

Same experience made slightly more pleasant by the vast quantities of numbing Sake. :)

Was NOT hungry again in an hour.

For the sushi lovers, even though its a urban legend, just thinking about it give me the chills.

Sushi Urban Legend

I for one eat about 30 pieces on one seating. (mostly salmon, red and white tuna, shrimp, Taro) Mackeral, I heard is high in mercury which can cause cancel.

That's silly. Gross, but silly.

My exGF was a CPA at a firm here in town...she made good money and loved sushi. She used to take me out and we'd rack up about $80 every time, of course that included a bottle of wine. ;)

1/2 is my record. It was at a small potluck and someone brought it in. I took several pieces, thinking it was something else. I got half of it in my mouth and started gagging on the horrible flavors. I would have spit it out, but I was sitting next to the woman who made it. So I swallowed, and then "accidently" spilled my plate so I wouldn't have to eat the rest.

Now I admit it was homemade and probably not really fresh - but it was one of the worst tastes I'd ever had. I'm not going to try it again.

I just now got introduced to sushi and I love it. I like the crab with cream cheese. The most I had in one sitting is like 4 pieces. What is the best type?

Yeah, it can get expensive... i go once in awhile to the more expensive places, but with friends, i'll just hit an all you can eat buffet. Although there definitely is a difference in the quality and diversity.
