For the past couple years my sleeping pattern is pretty much messed up.

For the past 3 years I go to bed around 3-4AM and wake up around 1PM (depending what time my lectures starts then I wake up a bit earlier but 90% of the time I go to bed around 3-4AM) but now I go to bed around 3-4AM and wake up around 7:30-8AM. Messed up right? Is this an early grave for me or is this normal? I am scared that I will die early due to lack of sleep.

What is your sleeping pattern like? Most of you punks here are on a 100k salary (100k elitist club) so I expect you guys to have 12 hours sleep everyday ;)

Need about 6 hours minimum to be functional. If you chronically under sleep studies show a marked decrease in learning and memory creation/retention over the long term. This is thought to be caused by lack of time for the brain to transfer memories formed during the day (short term) to long term memory storage. These studies should be googlable.

So you might not die, you'll just not remember as many details about your life as you age .

I work a lot of nights (I prefer them) but also work days, so it tends to be all over the place.

On time off, if I was to actually let my body naturally decide when I sleep, I'd probably be going to bed at like 6am and getting up way past 12pm. Even on days off I need to force myself out of bed if I want to get up before 12pm. Kinda bad really. Even if I go to bed at 2am or earlier I'll still be tired at 12pm and want to sleep more. Been bad for that latetly and need to try to work on that. What ends up happening is by the time I'm up, showered and everything it will be like 3-4pm, the day is basically over, and now that it's winter, it will also be dark out. I need to force myself to go to bed at or before 2am and get up at or before 10am, really. When I do manage, I end up being more productive too. When it's so near the end of the day I feel it's not worth starting anything.

On night shifts I finish at 7am so get home by 7:10 or so then go straight to bed. I try to get up before 4pm so I can have a few hours at home to make it back to work for 6:45. (technically start at 7 but have to be 15 minutes early for cross over)

Part of my issue is actually falling asleep, it always takes me forever and it can be torture trying to fall asleep early when I'm not tired. Only when I'm on night shifts do I fall asleep faster as I'll actually be tired when I go to bed. Day shifts are the worse, trying to go to bed at 10pm... yeah like that ever happens. :p But still have to get up at like 6am.

I could use sleep pills, alcohol and stuff to try to fall asleep faster when I have to get up early, but I really don't want to become reliant on it so I try to avoid it. I sometimes take melatonin though.

I'm asleep by 8 or 9pm, and up at 4am. Lately, I've been falling asleep at 7-7:30, and up at 2 or 3am.

I work 9-6 Monday through Friday. Typically I go to bed between 12:30 - 1:15 but I'll lay there and read for 45 minutes to an hour, so really I'm not "going to bed" until 1:15 AM - 2:30 AM at the latest. I get up at 8 AM but it's a fucking hellish struggle every single day because I don't get enough sleep and even if I did, I hate getting up. During the weekends I go to bed whenever (1 AM to 4 AM) and get up in the middle of the afternoon (when my parents aren't visiting) and I STILL don't want to get up. I'm pretty sure it's due to depression because my ambition and drive is almost gone too, but that's a whole nuther story.

I don't have a real "set" time to be at work (just before 10AM), so I generally go to bed around 3ish and get up around 8:30. No real issues, but I've only had like 5 hours of sleep the past 10 years.

I sleep at 6AM or so, wake up 2PM (I work night shift). Often I get far less than 7 1/2 hrs ideal for me, due to demands of the day. Weekends it's erratic, but I usually catch up on sleep early Monday morning into late afternoon. Sleep debt has to be paid.

Weekdays I try to go to sleep by like 11pm but it's tough during football season on Sunday, Monday, and Thursdays. I get up by like 5:45 or 6 typically for work. On the weekends I say I'm going to catch up on sleep but usually don't because I stay up until 1 or 2 then my son has me up by like 8 usually.

My job tends to mess up my sleep cycle, as I am woke up on the middle of the night from time to time.

Basically, a solid 6 and I'm good. at this point, it's usually from 9ish pm to 3ish am.

When I fially get back to a 10 to 4-5, I'll get a call at 1am from work and it's fucked for another month

It's not all bad tho...I catch up on Netflix while I work quietly in the basement :)

Just finished binge watching walking dead...took me a few weeks

I work early AM, Monday thru Friday. Lately I get up between 1:30 and 2:00 AM to go to work. On days off I typically wake up around 4:30 AM. My body won't let me sleep any later than that. Of course I'm usually exhausted and in bed by 20:00. On work days I always nap after lunch around noon, typically 2-4 hours.

Same here. I work periods where equipment is used least, and that equipment can be from East Coast to Hawaii. I then have to reset myself on Friday's so i can lead 1.5 days as a normal person with the wife.
