Clueless societally retarded kids who couldn't survive in the world without Daddy's or Mommy's money.

my roommate in college was in a frat... all of his frat brothers were giant douchebags. but my roommate was a cool guy, so I try not to issue blanket judgements on all frat guys/gals.

like anything, stereotyping them is dumb. i've known frat guys that are great, down to earth, etc. and then i've known ones that were douchebags. same w/ sorority girls.

Sureeeeee

Or if what you're saying would happen as you describe it, you should be the one on the tracks.

Would you pay for your women like you'd pay for your friends?

There are those that fit the stereotype, and there are those that are more academically oriented. For the latter especially, I think it's a great option and can give you friends that you'll have for life.

Not all frats are filled with jocks smashing beer cans on their forehead, though I know there are plenty of those as well.

Then again, I think the majority of people that I know that joined one did so because they essentially felt like they were buying into friendship, free access to parties, etc.

I didn't join a frat and probably never would. It's just not my style. I'd be more interested in a club of some kind with a common interest.

You sound a bit bitter about something. As far as I know, there aren't any dues one has to pay in order to join a frat here. I know several people in frats here and they're pretty cool - although I'm sure the meatheads exist as well.

I did this semester...really good decision

you meet a lot of people, do a lot of stuff and have a lot of stories

its nothing like tv or movies...its really down to earth with a lot of good stuff to do. We have to volunteer and do community works stuff...next week we are all giving blood and we are going to mexico next month then San Antonio for grand conclave at the end of the year. And because we are a club the SU covers part of our costs

best thing to do is go to rush events and talk with people and you'll know whether its right for you

Most Fortune 500 CEOs were in a Frat of some sort.

Yeah, networking can be very useful even if you despises it.

I was in the last stages of joining a fraternity back in '03 but pulled out when I signed up for the Army. It's hard to make generic statements because there are so many different types of fraternities and different kinds of members. We had a wide range of personality in ours.

I can say though there there is a huge opportunity to get laid. That alone makes it worth it.

Yeah, that's true; it does vary depending on the fraternity/sorority.

The best of both worlds is probably to just have a bunch of friends in frats and then go to the parties without being a member.

the public doesn't get let in for the best parties.

also, having been in one for the last 4years and moving into an apartment this spring, its Sunday-Thursday that i'll miss most. The thing that i'll miss least are the 2-3 complete toolbags that somehow got in.

Retards. I'm good friends with several and have met dozens more. That's the best description.
