I'm also torn on that one. Coming from a Nexus One, I don't want all of Samsung's crap on the phone, and I'd love ICS. I was ready to get the new Galaxy Nexus but the Note devastates it hardware-wise (larger screen, Gorilla glass, SD slot, faster processor, faster GPU).

What nearly sealed it for me was the white version (I never imagined I'd like that but I do) and the reported battery life in the Engadget review - almost 10 hours of video playback. I also exclusively use BT headset and don't want to buy a tablet. And it's scheduled to receive ICS pretty soon.

The Galaxy Nexus is still awesome, but man, look at around 4:30 in the video I've linked to, legible full page, desktop quality rendering of web pages in the palm of your hand... it's very hard to resist.

Ultimately though there'll be another Nexus phone in a year so I think I'll take the risk and go with the Note.

By the way, it appears like people fit it in their pants pockets no problem. I don't know how but there are some videos on Youtube showing that. I guess the thinness really helps.

I want an SSD. I really have no use for an SSD but there is this hole in my netbook that could hold one.

Also, I need to take another look at LED lights to see if any are ready for prime time as room lights.

At this stage, probably a new laptop screen for my brother's laptop since he broke it. That's his Christmas present.

Wow. I don't keep up with phones at all. Still using a 3GS. Question I have is why the f@ck would anyone buy an iPhone anymore? Seriously? I love mine but holy crap the iPhone looks old and dated compared to the Note. Also could I get the Netflix app for the note?

Just got my first smart phone 2 weeks ago. Tempted to get a new lense for my camera (15-85 mm or 10-20 mm) but at $500-$800 depending on what I get, I am holding off.

I never considered an iPhone so I can't really answer that. Every time I use an Apple device it just seems so gloomy and uninspiring. Professionally, I'm full of appreciation to the thought they put into things and the software robustness of their products but I'd never even consider one.

Comparing the iPhone 4S to the Note or to the Galaxy Nexus is absurd. It's so outclassed on every aspect.

Can't blame Apple though, for about two years I worked for the Mobile division of Samsung Telecom and what I learned is that the Korean are an alien race and Samsung is their spearhead for worldwide takeover: no pity, no remorse. I admire this company like others admire Apple: they are ruthless, don't give a fuck about anyone and in any technological field they touch they are either the best or a contender (Flash memories, DRAMs, displays, processors and semiconductor manufacturing). Samsung simply craps over everyone.
And if they haven't gotten something right this time, just wait for their next product cycle in like 8 months. Apple simply stands no chance against the Korean machine of destruction.

New TV. Looking for a 47-inch LG LED with wireless capability. Been looking for a couple of months, and I'm hoping for a good deal in the next month or so.

Don't care about 3D, so I'm hoping to catch a non-3D model in the $800-ish range (including tax, delivery and CA fees). Passed on an Amazon deal in July (probably should't have) and then a deal at Fry's for $799 + tax and fees last month (probably shouldn't have). Still hoping for something a little better from Amazon...

New hard drives for me FreeNAS box. Built in 2006 with 6x500GB drives. TB drives are so cheap now and considering the age of the drives it's time to upgrade.

Just bought a second hand UPS for my network gear.

I'm in need for a few new 2TB drives for my NAS, I'm running out of space and have a questionable drive in the array anyway. Bad timing all around.

My mother-in-law was supposed to give me her Android tablet that she didn't want, still waiting on that.

I bought 2 22" monitors not too long ago for eyefinity, so that's off the list. I've wanted that for a long time. I was scared about the res but 5040x1050 isn't too bad, and most games run fine with good settings.

So I would say either:

1) A good pair of headphones. I've wanted to order for a while but haven't been able to pull the trigger for some reason.

2) A large HDTV. Haven't decided on brand or size, but I got a Sears card with a $12,000 limit when I bought my dishwasher so I'll probably get it from there. The card has some good no-interest deals (I think the latest one is 3 years). Looking at 60"+ for my home theater space.

I have a Kindle Fire pre-ordered for media and a development toy (I already have the older Kindle e-ink version for books).

I'm pondering getting a Wii while I can still get the old model with GameCube compatibility -- Target is advertising the new, no-BC model in the Sunday paper so time is running out:

It's almost time for Child's Play 2011 so I'll be buying a bunch of toys and games for the donation matching.

There's really nothing on the horizon for me. Most of my computer components are nearing 2.5 years old, but it still runs perfectly. Have two nice TVs that don't need upgrading. 12 months on my phone upgrade still. No desire for a tablet.

Maybe a 2TB HDD when mine near capacity, but I probably have a few months until that happens.

Nothing planned as I just got a Lenovo T420 a couple months ago. Maybe an SSD eventually but not pressed at all
