I will be doing a complete upgrade sometime in the second half of 2006 but I've thought about getting a nice LCD monitor to replace my 3 year old 19inch CRT. I usually see tons of deals for the Dell monitors like the 2005fpw and the 2405fpw... not sure if I'll ever pull the trigger on any of them. Maybe I'll get the 2405fpw as a christmas gift to myself.

Yep, I'm broke.

At least your calculator works. Mine TI - 83+ just displays gibberish. I've tried fresh batteries and stuff to it but no joy. I guess i should splurge on an 89. It can do complex math in matrixes.

New CPU now that I got bent pins on mine yesterday. And to think that I was almost completely done upgrading that system.

I  my TI-89, but if you're in high school, beware that you can't use them on the ACT (though at least you could on the "old" SAT; I'm not sure if they changed the rules for the "new" one). There is a new "platinum" or some such version of the TI-89 with an upgraded amount of memory for gam... er... mathematics and statistical analysis applications. ;)

The reason why I'm waiting 5 years is because I just built a really expensive system last year (sort of started in June 2004, ended in January of this year):

ABIT IC7 MAX 3
P4 3.0 C @ 3.5 GHz
2 GB RAM
6800 Ultra
Audigy 2 ZS
Klipsch 5.1 Ultras
Dell 1905 FP(?)

I chose intel because I started building just before the 3500+ was released, and AMD was actually worse than intel by a bit when you consider the overclock.

Aside from the speakers, I think it was a poor investment. I also think that PC gaming and PCs in general are going to change dramatically within a few years thanks to the advances being made with gaming consoles. X86 is old and needs replacing or dramatic improvement ASAP. Cell owns current PC processors. So does X360's Power PC architecture.

We need 4+ core, 64-bit processors running on solid 64-bit software.

This is why I'm not building a new pc until the end of next year. So many new things (dual core for the mainstream user, new windows, btx, better sli tech..etc) coming out and I agree about the new consoles..I want to see what effect they'll have on pc gaming and pc technology. My 2500+ Athlon XP, 1 gig ram and 9800 is doing just fine now and I'd rather wait and see what happens.

I still want to buy a lcd however...I figure a Dell 2405 will be mine this christmas.

I'm waiting out the release of a 939 Socket Micro-ATX from Asus or Abit.
Expect to see one from Asus, but doubt that there will be one from Abit.

Want to put in an AMD x2 CPU & build it into a nice Mini-Box
Drop in a Video Tuner pair of SATA 200GB's
& I've got a unit that's effectively an equal to a TIVO.
