Well, I built a desktop 3+ years ago, then bought a laptop last year that basically replaced it b/c I needed the mobility, but now I hardly need to move my laptop so I'm planning on just making a whole new desktop in the winter (winter break) or next summer. I might just get a Dell UltraSharp 2005FPW with it...if I get accepted into the Graphics Design program. :D

In about a year I plan to get a laptop... I've always only had desktops so I'm gonna give it a shot.

I have pretty much everything i want on my PCs...i guess i might add a DVD-ROM, & maybe get one of the 300 or 400 GB HDDs when they get cheaper.

Later on, i'll be looking at the X2s & an ATI X950XT or the likes...but seeing as how prices on thsoe are gonna be insane for a while, i'll stick with my Venice 3200+ & 6800GT for a while.

Probably a whole new computer when this one finally dies. Hopefully that won't be for a few years.

Upgrading or spending money on Computer equipment is way down on my list of priorities.

I am actually satisfied with my computer right now, without spending a lot of money. my next computer-related purchase will probably be in ~6-12 months.

computer: shuttle sk83g, a64 3200+ DTR, 2x512mb mushkin, 250gb 7200rpm, cdrw/dvd-rom, 9800 pro, 17" lcd.

What i would purchase is a shuttle sn25p, a64 939-pin, and a pci-x vid card... but i can't justify the ~$400 upgrade price (after selling the no-longer used components) for just a slight performance increase.

need new video card, stoooopid bf2:|

My general rule of thumb concerning computer parts is, if I want to do something on my computer, but can't. It's time to upgrade. I wanted to play the BF2 demo, but couldn't so it's time to upgrade. And probably pickup an audigy 2 while I'm at it.

I just got a new hard drive. The next thing I want to do is get a faster processor to hold me over until I can get a Athlon 64. I also want to get a new video card, but I don't really game much anymore so I will probably go with what I have. Maybe a HDTV capture card or something.

I'd like to get a dual core Athlon but I'm going to be waiting a while.

Sadly, $200 isn't a big computer purchase for me. I just bought a 6600GT because GTA3: San Andreas was too slow on my 4400Ti.

I am seriously tempted by the Dell Outrageous deal.... dual Xeon 3.0ghz in a 1u chassis for $800 or in the tower for $1000... sweet.

$200???. The video card is anywhere from $300 to $450, the RAM $90, and the HD is $110.FunnyMoney here.

hdtv tuner card

after that, 300-400MB hard drive
maybe a quieter PS (for htpc)
longer term, mobo/cpu/ram -- probably amd64
