what's your net worth? how old are you?

we've had lots of 'how much money do you make' threads, but that's not very indicative of true wealth if you don't save any of your salary, or invest it (wisely).

so what's your net worth? basically assets minus debts.

assets include cash, savings, stocks/bonds, property value, car value, everything inside your house (pc's, electronics, furniture), etc.

debts are your mortgage and loans (student, cc, car, etc).

-24000$

Good ol student loans 🙂 and I'm still going yeah! In my opinion, life is a race to see how much debt you can die with 😉

Does this count how much you could make by harvesting various organs from you and those living in the house?

Who cares. I don't live my life thinking about my net worth.
pretty much. i guess since i don't really know, i can't possibly care.

i live in a house and drive a car owned by the bank. i have a lot of bills and not a lot of spending cash. therefore ATOT is better than me.

I see no reason not to be honest. I'm at $84.4k if you add up my belongings and subtract my debts (but NOT INCLUDING the value of furniture and clothing since that is small and difficult to keep track of). I keep an excel sheet on this very issue and track it monthly along with my monthly budget. I'll be 32 years old in a week. My divorce several years back decimated the net worth that I had and so did the stock market decline, but it is making a nice comeback. At the moment, it is going up $24k a year. When I get married this fall, my net worth will almost double.

Around zero. All retirement savings are zero'ed out by wife's student loans. Car loans are cancled out by liquid cash (no real incentive to pay them off due to low interest rates).

I don't count my home mortgage against me since my payoff is about even with sales price less realtor commission. So that's a wash too.

Material goods in home have marginal resale value so that would be enough to get through a few weeks of living costs, but nothing beyond that.

Want to donate to the "RichardE needs Whiskey this weekend" fund? I'll provide nudez of any chicks I hook up with :Q

*disclaimer: This is a joke, no such fund exits...yet..*

I have no idea. Trying to calculate it would require work, looking over papers, logging into a bunch of accounts, estimating value for things I don't have receipts for... IE - not worth it.

In the assests-debt arena I am around $5k, but mainly because of student loans.

If I take student loans out of it, then I am doing fairly well and around $15k.

I am 22.

I don't know, and given that the value of my condo has been going down faster than a drunk sorority girl, it would be depressing to figure it out.

Yeah. I moved out of the condo I was renting in 2007. The owner had bought it in late 2005 for $375,000. I was looking on Realtor.Com and condos in the same community, same floor-plan as the one I was renting are now being sold for $75-100k depending on upgrades. Ouch.

Upside down on mortgage due to property value decline
"profit sharing" account down to 1/2 of what it was just a couple of years ago
CC balances not paid off yet
Car is paid off, but only worth about 2K
checking account has no money
got 1K in savings just in case
Stock and Options are worth under 5K now

I'd say I doubt I'm even worth 10K at the momment.
