Interesting thread.

I'm 24 and I'll graduate with a bachelors in a few months. I have $20,000 cash and two cars with $10,000 each. So that puts me at $40,000 net. I have no loans/debt or a house. My net has been the same for about two years between only working part time and spending the money on school. I don't see my net increasing for another 2 years because I'll be starting my masters this fall.

The nice thing is that my net doesn't decrease either. It always hovers about the same.

This is very rough estimate

I have 25k in the bank right now, I probably have about 5k worth of computer equpment, and maybe 2k of misc stuff like my desk, etc. I won't count my house since it's my parents'.

sooo, 32k?

Apparently my sites are worth in the hundred of thousands each but not sure if that would count. 😛

It took until I was 29 for my net worth to become positive. I'm older than that now and the net worth is still positive. 😛

My net worth isn't all that impressive once I do the math. Sure... I have a nice condo and a nice car, but I also have a big mortgage and a car loan. Those two basically cancel each other out.

Once I add up everything and subtract the debt, it isn't all that much. I have about $25,000 in the bank, $50,000 in retirement, and about $25,000 worth of stuff in my house. That's about 100K total.

I'm 31, BTW.

33K in liquid accounts, 19K in retirement (401k/Roth), a car worth 35K (paid off, gift). No other loans since I just paid off my CCs for this month (always pay in full). I rent. Maybe another 3K in possessions if I liquidated everything.

~90K, 25.

I owe around 20,000 in school loans
I owe around 20,000 in car loan
I owe around 15,000 in credit card debt

I have about 5,000 in liquid assets

So I'm negative 50,000.

Why do you buy a $20,000 car when you have no money? I have never been able to understand this. I promise you could find a $6,000 car that will work perfectly for your needs.

Same, in fact even when I was in the positives I went for the cheapeast car I could find. As long as it can bring me where I need to go, that's all that matters. 5k for the car and I put about 1k in it, and still way less then if I would of bought or leased. No payments or owing money FTW. I hate oweing people money. When I get a house, you can guarantee I'll be making the max payments I can afford too. I'm not really cheap, I just don't like oweing money to someone, or paying way more for something if I can pay less and it will be good enough for my needs.

I was fortunate to be able to buy my first home in my late 20's. I lived in that home for nearly a decade before renting it out and purchasing a second home. Both homes have doubled in value. I just turned 42 and should be mortgage free on both homes in under 5yrs. I have no other debt than mortgage. Total assets including investments are just shy of $850k so I am very fortunate. Hoping to retire in 13yrs.

I promise your pole is skewed

Don't ya know all ATOTers are gazillionaires and they are debt free?
