Software Developer for Kodak Health Imaging Division. Most of my time is spent doing SQL Server development and writing VB and ASP applications. The manufacturing plant I work at makes the film that's used in digital laser imagers for printing CT scans, mammograms, MRI's, digital x-rays, etc.
This stuff here.
We are regulated by the FDA, so there is a big emphasis on software testing. Theoretically, a bug in the quality control software I write could lead to defective film being released and sold, and could cause a doctor to misdiagnose a patient, which could end up killing someone.
I hate software testing. It is extraordinarily boring. And I also go to far too many meetings. But the rest of the job is really interesting and fun. Actually designing and coding the software is what keeps me interested and liking the job. And the pay is pretty damn good considering the job market right now.
