 That's exactly how I feel. We can buy pretty much anything anytime we want. Doesn't have to be Christmas. But Christmas is magical time for the children and we buy gifts to celebrate. My daughter is still young enough and believes in Santa, elf, and the tooth fairy. So I try to do my best Santa impression. Santa gets all the credit and I get the joy of seeing her happy and in awe.

Well fortunately I don't have to decide gifts for kids or doing something nice for my wife.

I don't have kids of my own, but we have 5 little nieces and nephews in Japan that usually get 2-3 large boxes of stuff from America. Shipping alone is usually $300 or so.

I also buy my wife things during the year. We don't really pool our money like so many do, so gifts mean something rather than just taking 'bill money'.

And generally we buy what we want. Certain things like jewelry usually mean more to people as a gift.

I don't know why every 'gift' thread has to turn into a we skip gifts because we do 'vacations, buy a car, etc'. That's just saying you can't afford to do both and trying to assume someone else isn't. My wife also ends up in Japan 3 weeks a year plus our own vacations. This next year I am going to try to get to Japan for a month. I don't think my company will allow it, but I am going to try to work something out.

Yeah, that's on top of trying to shoot for a Rolex for her. Personally I am going to try to figure out a way to get that closer to $8000-10000...lots of Palm Beachers/Boca types have these and are constantly putting them on consignment.

We don't buy gifts because we buy what we want when we can afford it. Hiding and surprising is pointless with a joint bank account.

I really enjoy planning surprises for my husband, putting away cash from my personal money, trying to decide what gifts he'd most love to receive. There's plenty of Xmas "magic" in this house, we both really enjoy the gifting aspect of the holidays.

Yep, You've never done that before....😉 Right?

You are so full of shit. It is just funny.

Not sure what you mean. In the past when I had stories of being back in college and some financial woes, everyone was quick to throw shit...let's not forget my Saturn that I bought to go back to college at thirty.

People are just angry at their sorry lives and want to find fault with everyone, good or bad.

Yes that's it. Everyone if just envious of you. We just can't get anything past you these days.

so then what is the fucking problem?

You are either jealous or just being a dick.

Either way skipping a thread I have started would probably be the best choice for you.

that's why you're coming across like a dick.

personally, things don't mean a whole lot to me. I'd just as soon my friends/family/significant other gave me nothing and donated the money to a worthy charity instead.

the only gifts I really care about are either the gift of an experience (eg: let's go to a nice restaurant and spend a weekend out of town) or the gift of time (eg: doing something for me, spending 3 hours working at a soup kitchen instead of buying me something worth 3 hours of your pay, etc)

Nah, he just wants to be a dick, do you got a problem with it?

Now go back to trying to keep your mail order bride from leaving you by trying to buy her off, and post back here with your next purchase. We enjoy it, really we do.

Not really with just that, it's when I am accused of lying or like you claiming I have mail order bride.

She's her own free person. She was financially independant when we met and still is.

She has a MIS bachelor's from the University of Tokyo.

Other's shouldn't be putting down those that buy gifts then because 'they choose to do something else'.

It's the same as when one talks about donating to an animal charity half the time. You get a handful of asshats that cry out "WHAT ABOUT PEOPLE!"...

Most that donate to animal causes also donate to people charities. Sadly most of those that get all uppity donate to no one.

9 times out of 10 it's a financial limitation and not really that gifts are over rated.

For most that 3 hours of free time is worth far more to them than their salary.

I may be a Dick ( a capital D ), but rest assured I am not jealous. I really don't care how much money you have or how you spend it. I do however think it is too strange how you feel the need to brag on the internet about what you do with these real or imagined money, girlfriends etc....

Hey look what I can do! It is kind of sad really. I'm sorry.

See that is the problem, you think this is make believe.

It's no different than a PC Geek going on about all his megabits and how many megaflops he crunched last friday night. Same with those buying $1,000 CPUs and $3000 in video cards.

It's when one talks about doing something outside their childhood bedroom that people seem to get all up in arms around here.

Also even a $26k watch is very low on the high-end watch market. It would not be a trivial purchase for me like the Tag Heuer I just bought for her was. Even at $14k, that's a ton of cash IMHO.

This thread was about goals for next christmas. If that's a fucking new toaster oven and a box of pop tarts so be it, but get a fucking life if you just want to crap on others.

By posting incessantly in my threads, shows you do care or have no life.

I have a great life and still think you are a giant douche bag. You are pretty funny, though I don't think you are trying to be. Keep up the good work

hmmm based on a quick search of your other posts here, you don't seem to have anything great to talk about in your life.

I posted a simple thread and yet I am the douchebag....lolz.
