I find it really odd you don't discuss anything that someone of your proposed income would be part of. I really doubt your household income is indeed $450k+...I am betting there must be some crippling debts/loans or that you simply are cut off from that income.
You talk about 'problems' like someone living paycheck to paycheck would.
Or perhaps he has nothing to prove, unlike some other people here. /shrug
Yep, same here :/ I think I'm going to wait a bit on that one though. I think the two of us want a house more... 🙂Don't quite see the allure of an expensive watch, doubt it keeps time any better than my $35, 6 year old Timex Ironman with a peeling plastic cover. But, I don't care, it's your money to blow/spend.
I will probably be entertaining the thought of a shiny hunk of dense carbon and overpriced metal.

It's jewelry, being gold has a tangible value as well.
No different than nice clothes, car, place to live.

Jewelry = looks pretty.
Clothes = required for a multitude of things including going to work.
Car = Potentially required for most to get to and from work, among other things.
Place to live = Unless you want to be homeless, pretty much required. (This assumes that a place to live could also be an RV.)
Jewelry is a helluva lot different than the other items you mentioned.
To be honest, I'm surprised there aren't about 5-6 more threads on the exact Rolex watch you are looking for. I guess I should just wait. They'll be here soon enough.
In all those categories there are extremely cheap and just as good options.
People tend to rise to their pay grade in all of them.
Waste of a thread. Also, you and your wife are fools for wanting a watch that expensive. What does it do any different than say, a god damn g-shock watch?
Do you really get off on telling us shit like this?
The specific watch you are looking at should be bought new. If the reason you are looking used is because of affordability, then you shouldn't be looking at rolexes in the first place. Only reason to buy a second hand watch is if it is a unique collector's item or you are trying to look more flashy than you can really afford.
The pay grade of a guy who buys a 10k dollar watch typically doesn't involve someone with dozens of cats in his back yard.
Heck, I would assume a guy who makes 100,000 yearly on average owns a 1k dollar watch at the highest point of a bell curve. So, someone who owns a 10k watch would likely be close to 1,000,000 in annual earnings. How is this not an e-peen thread again?
EDIT: And how did I miss: People tend to rise to their pay grade in all of them.
There is not a single doubt now that this is an e-peen thread. You da man Alky. You da man!

You are really clueless on that aspect. Most of Palm Beach jewelers have very good consignment sections that people living in those $10+ million dollar mansions buy from.
If the watch is in mint condition there is nothing but a savings to be had.
You'd probably really cry if you found out most diamonds were pre-owned as well.

Just for your information, those cats run about $100+ per week to feed. Not counting vet care if they get sick. I am starting to fix and release this next year which will add another $120-160 a month or so.
As far as car payments go, the feral cats on my property get a full one each month.
I donate about $50 a week to charities and spend about $100 per week feeding 'homeless' cats.
I personally send about $15k to charities each year. It's $100 per week just the cat food costs here, not counting my own pets. Not rare for a $500 surgery needed in a month for some stray that ends up hurt I find.
Just the money I spend feeding feral cats in my backyard exceeds $100 per week.
In january will we get a post your W-2 thread?
I think most of us know - you do make sure to announce it rather often.
My first haircut the day after I got it I was greeted by practically all the chicks that worked there at the door and they were gushing all over me during the cut. Not saying they were super models or I got to have my way with them in the back room, but it was fun.
Just this morning I was parking at a local gas station to grab a drink for the road and some pretty fucking hot chick raced to grab the door for me and said hi. Then a couple nights ago I pull up to a PetCo and as I am unloading my dogs two chicks came up and were all touchy-feely with me due to cuteness overload of carrying dogs in a BMW. They followed us all inside.
I did a $5 donation to PetCo and they went nuts. Yeah they were just 18ish, not my type at all...but it was fun. Unfortunately though, my latest bigger donations (only $100) almost caused a freaking riot.
