I can't believe rockets are illegal in some places.

Anyway here they shoot from platforms on the lake and make big shows on the national holiday and another occasion too, so I'd never waste my money on them when I can just watch the superpricey ones for free.

I didn't get a whole lot, just spent about $45, enough for some stuff that goes in the air, bottle rockets, mortars, etc. and some smoke grenades and sparklers.

Oh, and tanks and snakes, because everyone loves tanks and snakes!

" If it explodes, flies or lifts off, the law prohibits you from lighting it. That includes the popular Roman candles."
lmao at memories - one year when we all spent a fortune on fireworks (if there are no places near you, if you get friends to chip in on fireworks, tell them you'll use your platinum membership to get them buy 1 get 2 free. Don't tell them that for every $500 and $1000 you spend, you get an insane amount of more free fireworks) one of our friends went for the "most bang for his buck" - he got the huge roman candle assortment. He was bragging how great it was going to be - after the buy 1 get 2 free deals, etc., he had something like 200 roman candles to light off - and he mocked us for wasting money (it's not without irony that in hindsight, he was right) since we'd only have a couple dozen pieces each for the same amount of money. After about his 10th roman candle, he had his head down, "this sucks."

ditto in Jersey.

but from the roof of my friend's apartment building, we can see the fireworks from a bunch of different towns... so we're going to spend the evening up there with sangria and munchies.

I remember (many years ago) stopping by a few stores in SC while traveling back/forth from NC. SC's have got it good when it comes to fireworks ... and the prices are pretty low too.

I used to like small novelty fireworks. My favorites were the... toys I guess you'd call them. They were illegal in MD, but for some reason you could get them from the German festival, because Germans are just better :^P I liked the tank. You light it, and it would travel a couple feet, stop, and three guns would fire. I'd buy that kind of thing if I could do it easily.

We might go to see City fireworks....maybe.

We don't do it ourselves. Sometimes our friend does it (goes nuts/think he goes to New Hampshire or Maine to get them).

Called the store and the BnN is $93.00. I paid $50 to a friend of my bro's that goes to FL to got them. She probably paid $25. Nice markup.

Two thread backfires in a row.

I think the family life is making him lose his touch.

I love a good fireworks display. Just got back from several days at Disney World and saw the show at Magic Kingdom one night and at Epcot the next. For me it never gets old. I ooh and aah every time. I do feel more comfortable watching professional displays, though. I'm happy to leave the chance of blowing off a body part to them instead of me.

Didn't you post in another thread that you had to sell off some belongings to afford fireworks?

LOL pathetic.

EDIT

Yep:

Did you take some of your stuff to the pawnshop or something? Pawning stuff to buy fireworks...hilarious.

My brother-in-law drives to South Carolina and spends a few thousand bucks on fireworks every year. I don't personally have the desire to set my money on fire any more.

Nothing worth buying is legal in Illinois. Not worth the hassle of driving out of state to buy stuff for me.

I'm going to the Wauconda fireworks tonight. They should be good.
I have friends who purchase a lot of fireworks out of state, they had their party last weekend.

I may purchase some firecrackers or bottle rockets or mortars this weekend when i am visiting family in WI. I have younger cousins, and also I am a pyromaniac. I like fire.

I think the exact moment I became an adult was when fireworks were no longer fun and were instead an expensive illogical dangerous annoying way to send money overseas. I think I became forever depressed during the same moment.
