Never really into them now, but since I now have a 15 and 10 year old here I put together something for them.

I first bought the Iron Force TNT pack from Sam's not realizing Safe and Sane means mostly smoke, sparkle and crackle...nothing really aerial. The 10 year old will like them.

I hit up Phantom and grabbed Uncle Sam and the Grand Finale assortments. I grabbed the Falcon Strike 36 shot repeaters for buy 1 get 2 free. Then another pack of multi-color Morning Glory sparklers for the younger one, a couple packs of parachutes, Wolf pack thunder strips and a pack of grenades to make up the $250 bonus tier to get a free Tropic Thunder and Phantom Strike for my gas receipt. They threw in another box of sparklers for a text message.

Should be a long burn. If it were for older kids I would have skipped Sam's Club and did the Phantom Nation and a bigger Finale pack + add some 500g repeaters.

We have a TNT near by too.

Hey Alky, you and I both know as Floridians that these types of fireworks are basically illegal in the state ... that is, of course if you sign the appropriate forms.

So, did you sign stating that you were buying these explosive type of fireworks to scare birds away from your crops?

None...but to my great amusement, Warshington apparently repealed its "Safe and Sane Fireworks" law that they had all my life...now you can buy the "good stuff" on almost every corner...or on any Indian reservation.

We had a safe and sane lane? LOL lived here my whole life and never knew that. Then again we always hit up the Suquamish reservation since we knew a guy with a stand there.

As for me...havent really done fireworks in probably....5 years or more. Id rather go watch a show...well unless its the San Diego one from last year :p...though that was fun to watch from the deck of an aircraft carrier

Yeah, we lived in the state until the late-80's...fountains, sparklers, and that kind of crap were about all you could get...looks like that's still the law...but apparently not enforced.

Except that roman candles and mortars/mines are now allowed...but the tribal fireworks stands are everywhere here in town...in essence making the "good stuff" legal.

A bunch of us used to pool our money and spend a fortune on fireworks, including a road trip across PA to almost the Maryland border. When our kids were little, I'd get that same assortment for the kids - Uncle Sam assortment at Phantom. But as the kids got older, I quit getting the little things & just got the big things; a lot of 500gram stuff. One day, I realized that it was a huge waste of my own money. All the neighbors would enjoy it, but I was funding the entire thing. Plus, the city had some of the best fireworks in the area. They light them off right behind the stadium in the city, right where two rivers join together. A bunch of us started kayaking down the river from 7 or 8 miles away & hanging out dangerously close to where they light them off. They light them from just on the other side of the dikes, and angle them up and over the water. There is no substitute for the best fireworks experience possible, laying back in your kayak (or canoe) and feeling yourself pushed gently down into the water from every boom directly overhead. Though, you have to keep your paddle ready to dodge the occasional willow embers that make it back down near the ground, still burning.

Didn't you post in another thread that you had to sell off some belongings to afford fireworks?

LOL pathetic.

EDIT

Yep:

One of my first fatherly roles is some awesome fireworks I sold off my stuff to buy them. I don't think they will be able to light them all off in even two days. I have like 5000 pieces.

Did you take some of your stuff to the pawnshop or something? Pawning stuff to buy fireworks...hilarious.

I came in here expecting to see some pics of fireworks. Where's all the statches damnit?

Haven't done a fireworks run to PA in a while. Last big one I did, dropped close to 5 bills and filled up my trunk. Bought the biggest tube they sold at Keystone, the "Ion Cannon"! My fist fit down the barrel of that one hehe.

I had some major stuff a few years ago like the mortar rounds, but since we have so many fires around here and anything that leaves the ground is illegal I won't by any. My damn neighbor though has a nice stash.

I was looking at this site where you can buy all sorts of fireworks and even electrical detonators to do like the pros. I checked and found out they're illegal here. :( Would be fun to order a couple 100 bucks of fireworks and set them off on July 1st.

Would also be fun to make my own. Nothing like putting together some ridiculously large shells and the anticipation of seeing how it will turn out. Preferably done at a lake or something. :p

not they are not.

Yes, they are if they fly or make noise, although enforcement isn't strict at all.

http://miami.about.com/od/governmentcityservices/a/Fireworks-Laws-In-Florida.htm
"Florida law prohibits any fireworks that fly through the air or explode — such as Roman candles, bottle rockets and mortars — for recreational use."

http://miami.about.com/od/governmentcityservices/a/Fireworks-Laws-In-Florida.htm
"The only fireworks legal for use by consumers who don't possess a special permit are those that fall into the category known as "sparklers"."

http://articles.sun-sentinel.com/20...ireworks-laws-illegal-fireworks-tnt-fireworks
"According to Florida statutes, any pyrotechnics that leave the ground or explode are illegal for recreational use, unless handled by a professional."

http://articles.orlandosentinel.com...ks-ban-small-fireworks-high-powered-fireworks
"But most fireworks are illegal for consumer use in Florida, even if they're available for purchase."
" Fireworks generally approved for use by consumers include sparklers; small fireworks that emit colored smoke only; and glow worms."
"These are the only items consumers without a permit can legally use."
" If it explodes, flies or lifts off, the law prohibits you from lighting it. That includes the popular Roman candles."
