What's Your Favorite Movie Battle?

I just watched the Saving Private Ryan DVD again and realized that the opening 30 minutes of Private Ryan is probably the best battle ever in a movie. What's your favorite? (Doesn't have to be real--science fiction or fantasy OK too)

Others that I like:
Gladiator opening
Empire Strikes Back Hoth battle

The Mordor battles in LOTR were teasingly good too--the scale is incredible, but unfortunately not enough shown.

Saving Private Ryan's Omaha Beach. The ending battle was pretty damn good too.

Any of the Braveheart sequences.

Return of the Jedi's Battle of Endor space battle (just ignore all that ewok fighting on the planet)

for sheer rush and captivating the audience for the protagonists cause no doubt is the battle of falkirk in braveheart

and who can forget the great great battle scene where luke skywalker , han solo and the rest ..kick the death star's a$$ in the first star wars movie...

well its not a battle, but the ending fight scene of Hard Boiled where they're shooting up everyone and everything in the hospital is pretty damn exhilarating

The battle on Hoth at the opening of Empire Strikes Back. When I first saw those AT-AT's, I nearly wet myself. Of course, I was nine, so that might explain something.

Blackhawk Down...It was one big battle and is true. It has no equal.

Gladiator's epic opening battle was very good. Saving Private Ryan was just a special effects redo....good none the less and Braveheart was total folly factually.

The Charge of the Light Brigade was very good and ZULU was the best until Blackhawk Down took the title....another true story btw.

braveheart, falkirk
saving private ryan, omaha beach
black hawk down, most of movie
and newest: we were soldiers, ia drang valley fight

HEAT after the rob the bank
Army Of Darkness - when the dedites storm the castle
Crouching Tiger - the crtazy weapons part
Terminatror 2 - Arnold with the chain gun.
Gladiator - opening
Street Fighter the anime- fight between Vega and Chung Li
DragonGall Z - Fight between Goku and Majin Vegita

First 20 minutes of "Saving Private Ryan"
Battles in "The Winter War" (those battles are serious slaughter!)
Battles in "Zulu". Espesially the last 5 minutes
The huge bug-battle in "Starship Troopers"
Battle of Endor (the space-battle) in "Return of the Jedi"

Torminator: I'm happy I'm not the only one who appreciates "Zulu" 🙂

Gungan Fight against battle droids, BY FAR.

Errrr.....*puts down crack*

That is....uhhh.....

Uhhh...

oh man...

😉

The ending fight in the Predator was just freakin' awesome.

I would also say that the fight between Liu and Shang at the End Of Mortal Kombat was pretty good.

Hmmm...The final battle in the movie Independence Day was the sh!t! Actually, all the battles in that movie were cool(There were like 2 or so I think).

The best Star Wars battle was possibly the Battle For Endor and when Luke had to fight his father.

Vader laying the smackdown on Luke in The Empire Strikes Back (Battle of Hoth was pretty awesome too!)

Other memorable moments:
Neo vs. Agent Smith in The Matrix
The last battle between Arthur's and Mordred's armies in Excalibur
Boromir's last stand in The Fellowship Of The Ring
And of course, Wesley Vs. Montoya in The Princess Bride 😀

There are others but I'd be here all night...

Last twenty minutes of Mission: Impossible 2 were ubercool, if totally unrealistic. But hey, it's a movie. 🙂

You've seen people mentioning Braveheart, and the battles which were nothing short of epic. But my favorite moment has to be the end, in which they don't actually show the battle.

Right after Wallace screams "FREEDOM" while he's being quartered, they cut to the battlefield where the Brits expected to formally recognize Robert DeBruce as king. The Scots were so dejected, but then DeBruce changes his mind and gives a short speech, pleading with them to fight one last time. Then one of Wallace's best men (the big guy) unsheaths Wallace's big-ass sword and just heaves it across the field like its nothing and all the men chant "WALLACE!!! WALLACE!!!" and just charge those Brits like a sea of mack trucks 🙂

Cue my sig 😉

I cant believe no one has mentioned the opening sequence in "blade"...the one that starts when the human guy is crawling away from the vamps and he runs into blade's boots...all of a sudden EVERYTHING stops..and then blade starts kicking MAJOR a$$. Come to think of it, though, almost all the fight scenes in blade were pretty damn cool. And what about the fight scene between ken, ryu, and Bison in SF: The Anime? The one that inspired the "hidden" option in the original street fighter alpha...

Rocky's fight against Apollo Creed in the first two movies was pretty spectacular as well. Though i'm not sure if that counts as a "battle." (Watch it again. It's a battle)

The opening battle in The Mummy Returns. It wasn't that long of a battle, but the reason I like it is becuase of the shear size of the armies shown fighting. It actually looked real compared to other movies showing just a small portion of the army fighting. It has got to suck to be one of the first few waves of fighters in a battle like that becuase you are going to die!
