There's just a small difference. The Koenigsegg (definately a nice car) is a race car. The Skyline is targeting the same direction, but its a 2+2 seater opposed to the 2 seater Koenigsegg. The Koenigsegg is weighting only 1.2 tons opposed to the 1.6 of the Skyline. And the Skyline comes with 280 hp in standard trim 😉
In case they haven't reduced the weight of the Skyline (well, they definately needed some huge turbo chargers etc.) it has 1,33 kg per hp. The Koenigsegg has 1,5 kg per hp, so the Skyline is still having a (samller) advantage. But the power only starts at maybe 5500 rpm or so, before that its pretty weak. If you have seen the DVD where they did the 0 to 200 mph in 24 seconds, you would have heard that the first gear took a very long time, and as soon as it reached a certain rpm, the engine nearly exploded and the gears went up extremely fast. Remember that the Skyline uses a V6 2700 cc engine, whereas the Koenigsegg uses a V8 4700 cc engine, which will probably start its firework at lower rpms.
Then, car manufacturers tend to give optimal results, they could probably even make a 2CV go to 60 mph in 10 seconds :laughs And we don't know what tyres were used on the Skyline.
I'd say the Koenigsegg is the better race car, but its not as "practical" as the Skyline. And then its fascination is that they got 1200 hp out of a 280 hp engine with 2700 cc. That is insane.
But I don't really take the near 400 km/h, until now I thought the McLaren F1 is in the guiness book of records for the fastest production car.
And remember that a stock Suzuki Hayabusa does the Quarter Mile in 9.86 seconds, with only around 160 hp (175 claimed). 0 - 60 mph is even a bit faster than the Koenigsegg (3.15 secs).

My favorite also. Wow, 400hp less than the Nissan ricer, and it does a faster quarter mile. 😛
Man I hate Skylines. And all japanese sports cars.
BTW, the Koenigsegg is brought to us by the Swedes, inside that beast of a car beats the heart of a Saab and the spirit of a Volvo.
