What's your DVD collection like?

I have close to 200 DVDs. Most of them were cheaper to buy than rent. My average price is probably $4-$5. I loved the days when dot coms were selling them for dirt cheap. A lot of my DVDs went out of print or went out of print temporarily until a new version was released and I sold them sometimes... made quite a lot of money on some of them 🙂 I got the three James Bond box sets for like $100 total and ended up selling them later for $500 🙂

Six String Samurai
The Hunt For Red October
The Shawshank Redemption
The Great Escape
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon
Why We Fight: World War 2 (4 disc set)

That looks alarmingly like mine. I have at least half of those titles, and I don't have too many more than that, either.

I have 12-15 movies. My take is that unless I'm going to watch it a number of times it's a waste of money so i never have, and never will, actively grow the collection just for the goal of having a large one.

I only have a few..unless I'm going to watch it somewhat often, I don't bother buying it.

Men in Black (2DVD set)
Terminator 2 (~$5 BB deal! Woohoo! 😀 😛)
The Matrix
Shanghai Noon

Need-to-buy list:
Minority Report
The Bourne Identity
Shanghai Knights
Air Force One
The Count of Monte Cristo

I only have around 20, but like Lord Maul I keep them all backed up on my harddrive (as SVCD rips, no crappy divx bs).

What I don't understand is - why do people have like huge collections of movies that they never watch?? I'm partially guilty of this too (I've only got a small collection), but like IBuyUFO - 300 dvds and most are unopened?? Why?? 😕

It's not like I don't want to watch them. I just don't have time but I just have them there when I do have time to watch them. I also let friends and family borrow my dvds.

I have maybe 25, and I don't watch most of them. From now on, I'm only buying movies I really like and will watch again.

I've got like 25 dvds. Just starting to build my collection. I figure I'll probably watch each at least twice, so if I were just to rent it, it would be almost $10. Blockbuster often has the previewed for $9.99, so I just buy them.
