CPU - I'd normally choose AMD, the XPs were much cheaper a year ago and could easily stand up to a P4 $100 more at least in general use and gaming. Now days, I'd just go with whoever is cheaper. AMD is no longer 2nd best, I'd say Intel and AMD are evenly matched in price and performence.

Motherboard - I'd say Abit or Asus maybe Gigabyte...

Case - Antec by a long shot, the next would be lian-li or coolermaster. If I had to choose a power supply, Zalman, Antec or Fortron(sp?)

CD-ROM Drive - Samsung or if I've cash to spend and I want quality, Plextor hands down.

Video Card: ATi hands down, nvidia's current lineup sucks balls.

Hard Drive - Segate hands down, I cant stand loud drives. If I wanted more peformence I'd take a RAPTOR

Floppy Drive - It doesnt seem to be on newegg anymore, but it was a floppy drive, SmartCards and Secure digital reader all in one...

Sound Crad - Creative's cards, only because they are the only ones that use EAX. Otherwise I'd ditch these muderous bastards who killed aureal.

Speakers - Altec Lansing for entry level, then Logitech then klipsch, then some home audio setup that I wont be using a Audigy 2 for or any .mp3s. I'd be playing .apes or .flacs

You gotta try Crest's Whitening Expressions Extreme Herbal Mint, it rocks.

Martin's are nice, but I've been really happy with my Ernie Ball MusicMan bass.

I'll have to try the Trident Whitening, I've been loyal to Dentine Ice lately, all except the black flavor.

Heatsink: Thermalright - the best damn heatsink I've tried, been loyal since the SK-6.
CPU: Intel - I liked my previous AMD's, but have been absolutely thrilled with my P4/i865 setup.
Mobo: Asus - never had any problems with any Asus boards, ever... Can't say the same for some of the others.
Video Chipset: nVidia - drivers, compatability. Always been happy with NV since TNT, Geforce3, 4, and FX, although I have owned a RADEON 7500 and 9700 Pro. Already drooling over Geforce 6800.
Optical Drive: Plextor - fast, fast, fast CD-R
Sound Card: Creative - Great sound - EAX. SoundStorm is a close second, but I'm running Intel.
Monitor: none - I have yet to find one that I can afford that truely blows my mind.
Mice: Razor - Logitechs are nice also, but Razor is the best and you have to admire the tenacity of these guys. They just keep pushing and pushing.
Computer Speakers: Logitech - the z680's blew my mind, and the z2200's make for a great 2.1 setup.
Online Retailer: Newegg!!! - do I have to explain this one?

Case : Antec / Coolermaster / Silverstone - Antec for normal, everyday systems. The others for "high-end" builds.

Keybaord / Mouse : Logitech - They've consistently produced excellent products that have exceeded the competition.

Speakers : Haven't found a good set yet.

PSU : Antec - quiet and stable.

Fans : Papst - Pricey as hell, but whisper silent.

Cooling : Zalman - I'm a sucker for anything they make.

Monitor : Dell Flat panels

Printers : HP

I have also had bad luck, specificly with optical drives, and that's the only brand rule I follow. NO SONY and NO HP for the same reason.

Hard Drive: None have virtually tried them all so its on price and performance at time of buying.

Sound Card : Prefer Creative,but really like my onboard nForce sound.
