CPU - AMD (Solely because I've never used an Intel proc.)
Motherboards - Abit
RAM - Mushkin or OCZ
Harddrives - Seagate
Video Cards - Built By ATI
Heatsinks - Thermalright

Processors: none
Motherboards: none
Mobo chipset: none
Video Card: none
Sound Card: none
Hard Drive: none
Optical Drives: none
Floppy Drive: none
Power supply: (Well, maybe Antecs 😀 )
Case: none
Keyboard: none
Mouse: none
Speakers: none
MP3 player: none

Processors: AMD, because I'm too cheap to upgrade my AMD760 mobo

Motherboards: Gigabyte, because they're blue and they are stable

Mobo chipset: none

Video Card: None really...Ati seems to have won my heart as of late though

Sound Card: M-audio is rockin me out

Hard Drive: Seagate, most reliable, but a little more expensive

Optical Drives: none, but Lite-On is cheap and flawless

Floppy Drive: huh...

Power supply: Enermax, it's quiet and you don't have to ever worry about reliability

Case: Antec/Chenming, cool, functional, sleek

Keyboard: Dell, I've moved this keyboard through 3 systems

Mouse: logitech is very compatible, but expensive

Speakers: none really, but my Logitech's have great bass and mount easily

MP3 player: apple iPod, because it feels good in my hands and doesn't make me worry like other products might.

[additions:]

Headphones: Grado - neutral and strong in every area, but I wish they were more comfy

Cell Phones: Kyocera - even though my 2235 died, I thoroughly enjoy the vibrate then ring option and the ease of use

Instant Lunch: Annies Shells and Cheddar!

Toothpaste: Crest, Extra Whitening has good texture...not goopy like colgate, and it has a nice screw on top 🙂

Cars: currently VW, because it has a great fit and finish inside and out

Guitar: Martin - been lusting after one for years

Gum: Trident whitening - tastes good

Underwear: Gap boxers - cheap and comfy

Mail Client/Internet Browser: OE and IE, cause it works and it's fast

Processors: Intel - I do lots of video editing.

Motherboards: Abit or whatever fits my needs and budget at the time.

Mobo chipset: Intel

Video Card: ATi

Sound Card: Creative - consistent and don't disappear into oblivion before the next card purchase.

Hard Drive: Seagate, having 3WD's currently makes me nervous. I'll buy Seagate, Maxtor or WD (rebate deals)

Optical Drives: Lite-on IT, couples cheap prices with high performance. ditto.

Floppy Drive: don't care

Power supply: Antec

Case: Antec or decent comparable brand

Keyboard: Any

Mouse: MicroSoft

Speakers: computer is part of HT. Whatever speakers are under a grand and haven't gotten overly crappy lately. Totem, Paradigm, Dalquist etc.

Video Card: nVidia & ATI
Sound Card: Creative
Hard Drive: Seagate
Optical Drives: Lite-On
Floppy Drive: Sony
Power Supply: Antec
Case: Antec
Keyboard: Logitech

Processors: whatever is most cost effective.

Mobo: Abit

Video Card: ATi

Sound Card: Anything but Creative Labs

Hard Drive: Western Digital

Optical Drives: Favor lite-on but will buy most any if price is right.

Case: Antec

Keyboard: idk why model I use but I won't use anything else, IBM.

Mouse: Microsoft.

Speakers: Klipsch/Logitech

MP3 Player: The Intel 128 Meg player I won right when MP3 players came out is absolutely awesome. They stopped making em but I sent em an email letting them know how great I thought this product is.

CPU - I'd normally choose AMD, the XPs were much cheaper a year ago and could easily stand up to a P4 $100 more at least in general use and gaming. Now days, I'd just go with whoever is cheaper. AMD is no longer 2nd best, I'd say Intel and AMD are evenly matched in price and performence.

Motherboard - I'd say Abit or Asus maybe Gigabyte...

Case - Antec by a long shot, the next would be lian-li or coolermaster. If I had to choose a power supply, Zalman, Antec or Fortron(sp?)

CD-ROM Drive - Samsung or if I've cash to spend and I want quality, Plextor hands down.

Video Card: ATi hands down, nvidia's current lineup sucks balls.

Hard Drive - Segate hands down, I cant stand loud drives. If I wanted more peformence I'd take a RAPTOR 🙂

Floppy Drive - It doesnt seem to be on newegg anymore, but it was a floppy drive, SmartCards and Secure digital reader all in one...

Sound Crad - Creative's cards, only because they are the only ones that use EAX. Otherwise I'd ditch these muderous bastards who killed aureal.

Speakers - Altec Lansing for entry level, then Logitech then klipsch, then some home audio setup that I wont be using a Audigy 2 for or any .mp3s. I'd be playing .apes or .flacs

Processors: Celeron, because their fast

Motherboards: ECS, because their loaded with features

Mobo chipset: anyhting that comes with an ECS

Video Card: integrated inte xtreme gfx because they have a lot of pipelines.

Sound Card: integrated, because its high quality

Hard Drive: 4gb 4200rpm 2mb cache western digital

Optical Drives: any

Floppy Drive: any

Power supply: any 200W generic PSU because it can power my really fast computer

Case: foxconn

Keyboard: any

Mouse: any

Speakers: any cheap 2.0 speakers, because i like the high quality sounds!

Only brands I'm loyal to are Asus & Antec, and Newegg for purchases. Other than that I'll get whatever has a good price and good reviews. Only brand I avoid at all costs is Sony.

You gotta try Crest's Whitening Expressions Extreme Herbal Mint, it rocks.

Martin's are nice, but I've been really happy with my Ernie Ball MusicMan bass.

I'll have to try the Trident Whitening, I've been loyal to Dentine Ice lately, all except the black flavor.

Heatsink: Thermalright - the best damn heatsink I've tried, been loyal since the SK-6.
CPU: Intel - I liked my previous AMD's, but have been absolutely thrilled with my P4/i865 setup.
Mobo: Asus - never had any problems with any Asus boards, ever... Can't say the same for some of the others.
Video Chipset: nVidia - drivers, compatability. Always been happy with NV since TNT, Geforce3, 4, and FX, although I have owned a RADEON 7500 and 9700 Pro. Already drooling over Geforce 6800.
Optical Drive: Plextor - fast, fast, fast CD-R
Sound Card: Creative - Great sound - EAX. SoundStorm is a close second, but I'm running Intel.
Monitor: none - I have yet to find one that I can afford that truely blows my mind.
Mice: Razor - Logitechs are nice also, but Razor is the best and you have to admire the tenacity of these guys. They just keep pushing and pushing.
Computer Speakers: Logitech - the z680's blew my mind, and the z2200's make for a great 2.1 setup.
Online Retailer: Newegg!!! - do I have to explain this one?

With you pimping that HP in your sig you lose all sarcastic credibility, especially considering that you just did a copy\paste of the specs from their site.

You're not the first one to say this on AT, why all the Sony hate?

I am loyal to PNY for my video cards (which also means I buy nVidia) and I have never owned a sound card not made by Creative.

😀

Syntax [Category: brand, reason]

Processors: AMD, because they're usually cheaper.(agree)

Motherboards: MSI, Gigabyte, ASUS, EPOX(have used all of them they all have treated me good, only bad MOBO I ever had was a Soltek Socket 7 board)

Mobo chipset: n-force 2 (currently)

Video Card: ATI, Nvidia(have used both with good results)

Sound Card: none

Hard Drive: Dont care (have had western digital and maxtors die on me, there all the same)

Optical Drives: Teac

Floppy Drive: Mitsumi, don't know why...

Power supply: none

Case: Antec and its clones

Keyboard: Ideazon Crossfire(currently serving me well)

Mouse: logitech

Speakers: Altec Lansing

CPU : Intel - Only because of my limited exposure to AMD, not inherent bias.

Mobo : Abit / Asus [tied] - Abit because I'm a sucker for legacy free / Asus, just because they make good boards.

RAM : Crucial - Stability >performance for my needs.

HDD : WD / Seagate (tied) - WD perform well and have good lifespan / Seagates are quiet (for HTPC).

Video : ATI - there's another choice?

Sound Card : None

Optical : Sony (DVD-ROM) / Plextor (CD-RW & DVD+-RW) - Sony is silent for HTPC / Plextors are fast and produce 0 coasters.

Case : Antec / Coolermaster / Silverstone - Antec for normal, everyday systems. The others for "high-end" builds.

Keybaord / Mouse : Logitech - They've consistently produced excellent products that have exceeded the competition.

Speakers : Haven't found a good set yet.

PSU : Antec - quiet and stable.

Fans : Papst - Pricey as hell, but whisper silent.

Cooling : Zalman - I'm a sucker for anything they make.

Monitor : Dell Flat panels

Printers : HP

PDA : Dell Axim

Scanners : Canon

Processors: AMD, better price for performance imo

Motherboards: Asus, though i'm not sure why

Mobo chipset: none

Video Card: ATI (Canadian 🙂)

Sound Card: SoundStorm?

Hard Drive: WD or Seagate

Optical Drives: Whatever is cheapest, yet still decent

Floppy Drive: Who cares

Power supply: none

Case: mine

Keyboard: Microsoft

Mouse: Microsoft

Speakers: Altec Lansing for sure

MP3 player: none

I've had a few bad experiences with various aspects of the company, that's all. Can't speak for others.

And that Jetway fx5200 is faster than the r420, don't let the model number or low price fool you 🙂

I have also had bad luck, specificly with optical drives, and that's the only brand rule I follow. NO SONY and NO HP for the same reason.

Processors: AMD good value and performance.

Mobo chipset:No preference between VIA,SiS and nForces but don`t like ALI chipsets.

Motherboards: No preference since I have virtually tried all brands like Epox,Abit,ECS,MSI,QDI,DFI etc never had any problems.

Video Card: ATi or Nvidia depending on price and performance when I`m buying at the time, they are the 2 top dogs.

Hard Drive: None have virtually tried them all so its on price and performance at time of buying.

Sound Card : Prefer Creative, but really like my onboard nForce sound.

Optical Drives:None.

Floppy Drive: No preference.

Power supply: Enermax, seem to give me excellent long term reliability.

Case: Prefer windowed cases.

Keyboard: Logitech see below

Mouse: Logitech because of excellent reliability.

Speakers: Creative or Logitech

MP3 player:No preference.

Ram:Crucial good prices and good quality.

Processors: Intel

Motherboards: Asus

RAM: Crucial for the past 5 years

Mobo chipset: Intel based

Video Card: Nvidia preferably, but now that ATI has improved drivers, i might consider a product of theirs

Sound Card: Creative Labs Sound Blaster line

Hard Drive: Western Digital

Optical Drives: Plextor for the SCSI cd-rom and cd burners, Lite-on for IDE DVD readers

Floppy Drive: anything that works

Power supply: Antec and PC Power and Cooling, but i usually just get something cheap 🙂

Case: whatever i like and i can gets lots of use out of

Keyboard: Microsoft

Mouse: see above

Speakers: headphones and my Altec 2.1 set ive had since 97

MP3 player: ill let you know when i get one...
