There are so many different styles and flavors within each style its hard to nail down exactly what you like. A variety pack will be a good start. If you have a local beer store with a good staff you can go in and ask for a few highlights of different styles. I did this back when I started and quickly starting figuring out what I did and didn't like. Sam Adams Honey Porter is tasty.

Yeah, there's a bunch of party stores, but no real beer stores. The only one that has a semi-expansive beer selection doesn't have any micro's. But yeah, I'll try that honey porter, :D

Where are you in Michigan? PM me if you want, there are guides to finding a beer store, then guides for making purchases once in said store ;) LMK if you like the Honey Porter, or even regular Sam Adams for that matter.

Mmmmm.. rochefort is great. They have 8/10/12 at Binny's. I almost pulled the trigger this last visit but already spent $120 on 18 bottles of other stuff.

Picked up some -

Trout Slayer - 6pk
Founder's Breakfast Stout - 4pk
Bell's Expedition Stout - 6pk
Southern Tier Choklat - Bomber
Breckenridge Imperial Porter - Bomber
Abita Andygator - Bomber

I think that's it. All new things for me except the breakfast stout. I might cellar it.
