2. Quit drinking as often. Tonight will be the finale of a year of enjoying delicious - yet expensive - Belgian beers. Going to try to stick with some general rules of only drinking when going out (and not going out often), or if it's someone else's 😛 But seriously, I've questioned if I've become an alcoholic at times this year.....
Did you drink the first (or second) thing upon getting up? Drink on your lunch breaks and sneak some while at work? Spend your weekends drinking from the time you get up until you pass out? If not, you're probably not.

Nope. And that was essentially used as my justification to continue at certain points.

I understand you had past issues with it and probably have a lot more in-depth experience and knowledge on the subject, but I could definitely tell the negative affects of consistently drinking, as well as getting overall drives to do it every-day after work/stress. I never got as far as to do it in the morning or while on-work.

Everyday I drank I managed to keep it down to ~3, no more than 4 drinks. But still.... I could feel the side affects. Having sleep issues if I didn't drink (or drink enough), waking up after passing out more often.

make 5$k more from side income than last year

(i was going to say going on a date, but pretty sure that is never going to happen, so might as well go with the money)

at ATOT, we're all about that rental income!

Rental income would probably be one of the few things I can invest in.... I'm heavily restricted on what investments I can make due to my employer =/

Based on the people that live around me though, I wouldn't trust them to look away for 10 seconds, let alone 10-days in a house of mine.

Really hoping to kick my fitness and weight into a higher gear this year.

Looking to trim 18-22 lbs while maintaining my muscle mass and getting better at cardio. Not easy being 40yo and lifting heavy, running a sub 10-minute mile while working 10hr days plus a 2hr commute daily.

Need to lay off the booze and keep my mouth away from the free snacks at work.

Save more money

in LA.

I know these machines probably work and you can probably localize muscles and whatnot... but for $5k or a year long gym membership, it seems like one could just do a Rocky vs Draco workout in the woods.

My $370 2 year 24HR Fitness gym membership comes with the ability to use those machines - however for those who live in the stix or have an aversion to society - spending $5K on a machine that will last you 10yrs or more may be worth it.

These also get rave reviews - http://www.treadclimber.com/bowflex...r~100457/Bowflexreg+TreadClimberreg+TC200.jsp

I usually don't bother with a resolution but in the past few months I've been pondering on the fact that I'll be turning 30 soon, and have not really done much with my life and I've been living a fairly lazy life. So I need to do more with my life. Things I want to do:

1: Work out more - I bought a new weight set in summer, started using it, got sick, and then never got back into it
2: Expand my knowledge/hobbies, just in general, but probably electronics and programming.
3: Start some kind of hobby project based on #2, and look at actually monetizing it. I can't rely on the idea of having a job forever, in this new world order of corporations always looking at where to cut. I'm probably going to lean towards smaller projects than one big one, but I'll see. Been toying with the idea of making a MMO for the longest time, maybe I'll actually persue that once I learn more in depth programming.
4: Eat healthier. This is probably going to be the hardest one, it's just hard to justify all the work that goes into cooking my own meals every single day, just for one person. But I really need to figure out a system and meals that I can make in bulk and freeze or something. The big issue is knowing WHAT to make, I always get caught up on that, and end up just ordering pizza or something.

If I can accomplish even just 1-2 of these I'll be happy, but I will aim for all 4.

Really in general, my resolution is to just stop being so lazy. I work, and on my days off, I sit around the house pretty much doing nothing. I have to stop that. I may eve have to actually plan out my days and set goals, rather than just play each day by ear. I sometimes wonder if I have ADD lol. I'll go to start doing something and end up distracted and doing something else.

they don't exclude whole-market index funds, do they? i've never heard of an employer preventing investment in those, just related individual securities and maybe sectors.

yeah that's why i just use REITs... potential returns aren't as high as rental properties, but it sure is a lot easier to manage. and i suck at repairing stuff.
