In my neck of the woods (Chicago) I think it's considered "pimp" to have $3000 wheel/tire combo on your $800 POS! "Man.....that's livin"!

It is so common to look in the poorer areas of Fresno and see cars with rims worth more than the car itself. Their car is literally worth more than the shack they live in.

The rims I want are like $3500 and I can't even justify them for my $30k car, AND they would actually be a performance upgrade. =/

Its what happens when foodstamps and welfare are abundant and minorities have their entire McDonalds paycheck to spend on toys instead of essentials or bettering themselves.

Funny, I thought I was going to the Garage subforum of Anandtech to talk about cars, but I must have taken a wrong turn somewhere and ended up in Stormfront.

I live in the norther Suburbs of Chicago and I don't notice too many cars like that. Granted, I live in a nicer part and the South Side. I see more Ferarris than cars with big rims.

I remember seeing this in the 80s, but with normal sized rims and not the ridiculously huge diameters. I'm talking about a 15" wheel with a tiny bit of undersized tire on it. Often they were older big cars, and lowered. I rode in one once that a Mexican friend was driving. :whiste:

Like this? Someone went full retard with this car...

NO! Not full retard!

There an idiot in my area who has what would have been a beautiful early 70s Olds convertible if he hadn't turned it into a high-riser. Its so sickening to see a collectible car destroyed like that.

Around here, I see modestly-kept (no rust) 90s sedans with huge, chrome rims quite often. Some of them don't look that bad... especially compared to the photos here, but others look downright ridiculous. What's the worst that I've ever seen? Wasn't even on a car. It was a fairly new pickup truck with huge, chrome rims (probably 22-24) and low-profile tires. It isn't really just the tires, but why would you put that on a truck!? o_O

Plenty of that here. Their favorties are Escalades, Navigators, Yukons, etc with the deep dished out 24+" rims, and usually they will have like 6 TVs on the inside with nobody watching them all facing to the outside.

The more South you go in Arizona towards the Mexican border and the more ghetto the neighborhoods are the more prolific it is.

The Honda Fit comes standard with low profile tires. After the first set, we bought new smaller rims with higher profile tires. It rides much better and the cost of new rims+tires was only $100 more than just the cost of just the tires for the low profiles so next time the tires will be much cheaper.

"He cut the doors!" "He cut the doors!"

On a brand new car without a payment being made. :/

Not surprised by:

Who did it.
Where it was done.
Cheap base model.

Glad though that:

They couldn't afford an RT or SRT8 to destroy.

Surprised that:

Car isn't black or white and blacked out. A white car like that slammed on those wheels with 0% tint on everthing including the lights = ultimate douchemobile.

Don't know why people still dont get that subtlety is what makes a car stand out, not being a wannabe baller douche like everyone else.

My car is lowered, factory 17" chrome rims, and a slight darkening of the taillights (but still obviously red from any distance), yet people who carry out these same things to an extreme annoy for some reason.

Lowered smoked and chrome looks cool, so if I do more lower more smoked and more chrome its even cooler....yeah no. Be subtle, don't be a attention whore douche.
