what's with hell's kitchen

I don't think it is staged but it is obviously edited and drawn out. You're taking events that are lasting over a 8-10 hours day and cutting it down into a 40 minute show. Plus in the first 3 seasons , which where great, Ramsey was actually a real prick, but now he seems to have lightened up in his age and the charade of him being a complete evil bastard in the kitchen has broken. Milka, for instance, could of waited to be booted out at the end of the show but Ramsey kicked her off during the middle of service so he could play the chopping block game at the end.

If you seen his earlier stuff from BBC or even earlier seasons you would see him yanking people by the shirt, bursting veins in his far-head, and blocking punches being thrown at him from his colleagues or guests. I don't know what changed him, either medication, age, or lawsuits, but he is actually a very mild mannered man's-man now.

The thing that aggravates me about this show is why the hell does Ramsay even bother telling the teams to pick who they want to go home? He just sends whoever the hell he wants to home anyway. Stupid.

This fake drama-filled US version is garbage, if i hear that stupid sound effect thats supposed to create drama one more time I think I'm stab my own ears. Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares is far superior. I also still watch it anyway. 🙂

LOL, everyone touched on my points already, they ALL SMOKE! How can you taste anything like that? Sheesh.

Everyone's already beat these dead horses but I'd figure I'd chime in..

lol. Yeah, I never seen so much smoking in one place and I swear that one black dude on the show this year has been smoking some serious weed.

The whole point of the teams to pick out the worst link is obviously to create more drama and hostility in the group. It could also help motivate a person to do better or else crack under pressure.

And that broken violin noise does irritate the hell out of me too.

this show has been this way since season 1 quit crying you baby.

if you dont like it dont watch it.

the show is extremely entertaining regardless of it being way over the top and heavily edited.

Sooo... does the show still revolve around Gordon Ramsey swearing at numbskull cooks who can't make a decent Risotto?

Chopped is a much better show... the contestants on it can actually cook.

Why do you care if they can actually cook? Do you eat the food? I like HK because I like seeing retards get screamed at.

Hasn't actually been good television since season two. Hasn't been worth watching since season three.

A couple of contestants from past seasons have come out and stated that a number of oddities occurred in Ramsay's kitchen occurred: Stoves turned off or down when it was near impossible for that to happen, challenges where one team was way ahead but the last person on the team whose [insert food item here] is being examined flunks everything to tie it up... You get the idea.

I used to think that the subtle sabotage was okay as it made for good watching, but the contestants get flayed for such little things that it's actually quite unwatchable now. I hope the show gets canceled.

Hell's Kitchen is ok but it's way too over-produced and obviously fake. The show needs less editing and less stupid fucking sound effects and OTT music cues.

The editing has been atrocious this year. It's been quit obvious that they have edited the challenges so there is a tie until the last cook steps up. So, it's not Ramsey doing it, it's the editors and they have not done a good job in hiding it.

No need to DVR, it's on Hulu.

I loved the last few episodes. Rooting for Jay (Bostonian).

They're supposed to have some education and experience in cooking. It's not like they just picked up a bunch of heads from the crackhouse.

The fact that they're supposed to be able to cook and still serve half raw meat makes the show unwatchable.

Watch Top Chef on Bravo. Much better, much more sophisticated.

I do watch HK though. Shrug, just something to watch.

Gordon Ramsay is such a tool on that show, I have no idea why people enjoy watching him belittle everyone.

I wish that ex-marine contestant that confronted him a few seasons back actually beat his ass. That is something the guy desperately needs.

I agree. IIRC, the bodyguards moved in when the guy actually challended Ramsey.

I keep expecting someone to hit that asshole with a hot frying pan.

Well actually, they pick a few educated, a few high end chefs, and then they pick a few fried chicken chefs and pizza cooks.

The raw meat cookers get kicked off.

you'd be hard pressed to finda chef/cook that DOESN'T smoke

Really? Because of the stress? Or?

Yeah, I always wondered why everyone smokes...

It definitely had to do with stress, but most jobs are somewhat stressful.
Maybe the fact that most people who are restaurant lifers get sucked into it because most people take 5's together out back, and everyone smokes.
Another guess of mine is that perhaps it's because more lower income people smoke than higher income, so that could be a part of it.
